i have compatible external hard drive seagate 8tb and there is only one option to format which is Exfat but no option to format as extended storage. It still says it is not compatible. i used to have seagate 5tb and I could format and use as extend storage but it stopped working and it give me errors that is is not supported and that is why I bought this new 8tb , thinking that it will work but it is the same thing. I 'd like to be able to format as extended so I can use it all the time not just for back up. Any idea? Help, please. I also rebuild database and it is still not working and i don't want to do initilize.

Idk about you guys... but for me it kept on saying to repair the hard drive then it would load 25 percent of the way and then just get another error telling me to format the external hard drive. So then I uploaded all of my games to the online storage and the formatted it. I then had to delete my games off of the ps4 Home Screen and redownload them. When I tried to redownload it, it didn-t give me an repair pop up, but the game told me that it was corrupted and that I had to delete the game and reinstalled it... so that-s where I-m at right now...

Really weird , mine just stopped working and it works fine on my daughters ps4. I rebuild the database and it worked. Woke up this morning after I shut it down last night and now it won't work again. I'm guessing my ps4 is just a pos and going. But very disappointing cause the hard drive works fine when I plug it in another ps4. But for some reason it will keep beeping and saying it can't connect after I shut it down for the night. Strange considering I did the rebuild data base and it worked.

I need some help I brought seagate backup plus slim model, with the correct specs and everything for PS4 but when I connect it the white light keeps constantly flashing non stop and won-t work however when I took it to a Laptop it works fine. PS the one I brought doesn-t have the PlayStation logo on it as other models so I don-t know if that-s a factor to why it-s not working

I have done all the steps into device previously working and still doesn-t work, it recognises it is there but when I go on it it says to format it again.but my brothers extended storage works on my PS4 which is the same extended storage.

Second time I bought an external software an the same f-cking CE41 problem. The console didn't recognize it AGAIN, this thing ain't cheap. I give up whatever. Btw mine is the Samsung M3 it ain't just some random cr-p

Sadly my PS4 still says that my portable drive is unsupported and my PC can recognized it but my PlayStation no longers want to recognize my drive :(
But thank you for giving us this info on how to fix it.

My disc drive is a nightmare the only game that works is destiny I done safe mode & I still have the problem unrecognised disc I have never dropped my ps4 should I rebuild the database?

Turn off the PS4 with device connected then turn it back on at first it didn't show up for me but after turning it off and on with the hard drive connected it worked hope this helps someone

How do i fix the one where it says this device cannot be used. Try disconnecting it and then connecting it again also one works and one don't so its not my ps4 also I don't have a pc
