Today I realized I had deleted an entire subfolder of important files by accident which appeared very similar to another I manually delete on almost a daily basis to my trash. I then permanently deleted said files from trash and didn't notice the error until today, 2 days later. I downloaded this Hetman Recovery software to at least see if it could find the files and it did, which was a few hundred in a short period of time. Before purchasing I did try a few free versions but most didn't allow to scan quickly for very specific file types. I needed to find -.txt- files. One I tried, called Recuva, took 3.5 hours to scan about 5 drives because I couldn't specify date ranges or files types but rather file categories. So I paid for the Hetman Recovery version and it did work. Out of the 100's of files recovered some were corrupted which could be for various reasons. I'm still in process of going through them all and sorting to restore the folders these were from with the files that are 100% fine. I purchased the registration key here in Canada and it was $52.33 CAN. As you make your purchase, as per the norm, there will be other add-ons being toted for purchase - such as 1 year premium customer service and updates - I didn't go for this. Also some spyware - didn't purchase this either. Tip: when adding recovery software of any sort or needing folders to dump the recovered files you find, do all of this on an external drive, pen drive or disk as examples. You don't want to risk further overwriting and can transfer said files you found once all the dust settles. Also be sure to backup files that are important to you on a regular basis. - C -
