gaming on linux is a bit of a let down to me, it has come a long way... but its still a long way from good, steam is doing a good thing just like lutris and wine, but why should i have to run a program so i can run a game? (the os uses less resources leaving more for you games-) - no it doesn't, u have to run an extra program just to launch the game or in some cases even just the launcher for a game.
the drivers issue is nothing short of assholery from the distro managers, they know people want the proprietary drivers but they deliberately make it hard for people to install them, -but we only ship FoSS its not FoSS - to that i say good bye and look for another distro, which usually ends up being windows because i dont have to chase the drivers for my hardware, its gone past -we wont pay you so you wont provide us properly- its the distro's causing that issue and refusing to provide the drivers for peoples hardware, how am i supposed to sell this to someone? not sell for money, i mean sell the idea of just downloading the iso and trying out the live cd, the most common response is -why, whats the benefit of linux- ... and i would like to have something to say to that but i dont, software development is not easier, its harder, u have to make the program for 60 different distro's.
i laughed when people said -we will rescind our code-.... how about you rescind those nudes you posted when you were 19 and drunk? good luck genius!
i dont like microsoft, they have proven their scumbaggery, but then again so have most of the linux community.
i dont care much about security flaws now days, i know this pc is insecure regardless of what OS i run.
void linux has lost my support, i dont care if the guy is back or not, if he is willing to just vanish for a while and not say anything i dont want to be within arms reach of that distro or any other software he has released. (this is not open for debate, the guys a douche)

What is your current take on all the rolling-release isos that you had installed on Virtual Box a year ago ? You installed FerenOS over a year ago. What happened ?
I am now 30 man-hours into FerenOS ( the new experimental KDE version ) Plasma 5.14.5, Frameworks 5.52, Qt 5.11.1, kernel 4.18.0-15, Applications 18.04.3 ( however, there is a hodge-podge of Mint Apps, and some Gnome 3.30.1 stuff ), systemd 239, Mesa 18.2.2. It is functional.
I think it would be safe to call this one of the most hybrid-distro spins. Right ? I can only imagine those of you who have OCD with theming ( L&OS, LOL ! ), would probably not get a warm-fuzzy feeling.
Normally, I am content to use whatever application KDE offers, but I prefer the games and software in Gnome. If I had the money, I would buy a laptop from Purism or System76, and use PureOS or Pops! with no qualms.

If you are (about the games you play):
Picky - good luck on linux unless the games you are picky about are on linux already.
Want to play fun games - Get over here! most of the games over here are very fun to play but always read the reviews first.
Not Picky - Linux has thousands of games on steam, GOG and humble bundle there is really no reason to say on windows, if you have a older GPU just upgrade it and you will not notice much of a difference. I went from a Nvidia 680 to a AMD 580 and that did the trick. So the upgrade doesn't have to a a expensive one.
Gaming on linux is great.... however.... I to think that being or wanting to know about the console and how to install things is needed. Knowing something may be enough. Just don't distro hop its not good.

I have my own domain name that's far too important to me, so I made sure my payment info is up to date and my domain name got automatically renewed. As soon as I get a job, I'll renew my domain name for 3 years. I do check in my registrar from time to time. My domain name is for my email and DDNS. Of course, I don't host my own website. Just my G Suite and DDNS and that's about it.
Plus, I have more than 100+ aliases that forward to my email address. Important in case of data breaches when my email address gets compromised by unauthorized third-party access.

-15:26 Whether it is open source or -FOSS,- neither of those licenses are trully free. In both cases you cannot do whatever you want with it. Copyleft licenses prevent you from making it closed source and open source licenses prevent you from doing what you want with it by allowing to make it closed source.
-17:43 Exactly, the only recourse you have is to get rid of the SJW ideologue like a virus or leave the team to freebsd kernel development.

_-I really think it's time to embrace them into the open source community-_
Yeah, I'm still a bit reserved about thinking about them as part the -good guys-. I mean, you do know their old three 'E's, right? I'm not convinced they won't try to EEE Linux. Maybe my skepticism isn't needed and they are genuinely trying to give nice things to the open source community. And that'd be a welcome surprise for me. But yeah. Not convinced yet.

I play dozens and dozens of Windows games via wine, primarily on playonlinux. There have been very few games I haven't been able to get running on Wine. You can even run Steam Windows games with Playonlinux.
No serious Linux gamer is going to use the Nouveau drivers. I would recommend using Nvidia, though the AMD cards are coming on strong.

I'm happy that gaming on Linux has improved a lot in such a short time. This time last year, I would have never considered Linux for gaming. But now I am considering trying it out, even with how complex it can be to get everything working with AMD Vega cards

So buy an AMD RX card, plug in and go...I ditched NVIDIA because of the proprietary drivers and I'll never go back...Amd PRO stack work on top of the open source one and are required only for certain function like OpenCL for Davinci Resolve.

Every buntu distro I have used, I have removed snapd from it. I've always stated it was a security risk. Same with flatpaks. I never trusted them and I never will.
