idk man it's always -the year of Linux desktop- but, I've noticed that even some of my friends are considering switching if they have to install windows once again.
So guess I can update on that in 3-12 months : )
Gaming used to be a niece. Anime used to be a niece. Comic books/nerd culture used to be a niece.
I have the feeling Linux is entering working memory, but people get choice paralysis making the first step and frustration fiddling with setting for days after installation.
Also the approach to solving a problem is different and it makes them feel like iltechnical (? illiterate for technology)

The whole point of LTT's video about the ExtraPC was that it wasn't anything more than a bootable USB of a slightly modified Lubuntu. But they also mention that the extra cost over an empty drive might be worth it for someone that doesn't know what they're doing when it comes to working with Linux and burning an iso. The product isn't aimed at people like you, which is obvious with the FileRes software they include. To be honest, if they were a bit more transparent with their marketing, I can see you actually vouching for them since they are actively converting more people to a Linux desktop in 2020.

Do you think really think linus' audience would buy a Linux stick? I really don't think that video was sponsored. It taked a lot of money to sponsor a full LTT video, I highly doubt that video was sponsored. Plus LTT hardware reviews are amazing, they are really indepth and factual. LTT content is centered towards gaming, the reason why they do not cover Linux is mostly because it still sucks for gaming and gets hardly any support from devs. Just because they make money doesn't mean they don't have any passion.

Linux is never going away. Most web servers are running on linux. Pretty much all super computers are run on linux. WD NAS run on Debian and no never do a sudo apt-get update on a Western Digital mycloud NAS. With all the Raspberry Pi and other embedded computers it will never go away. The biggest threat to Linux is the CoC, hopefully if it gets too bad we could fork it to another name.

Since Anthony is with LTT things have been a lot better, even in the video you were talking about Anthony did what he could.
And I don't disagree that paying for the USB, shipping, and service making the livebootstick it's a pretty decent price.
Getting someone to your house to look at your PC it's already $20 call-out charges before they even did anything.

He specifically said that he doesn-t get paid to review stuff he even showed his revenue streams I don-t know where you-re getting that from. You show no proof of him excepting money for review when he has clearly stated that he does not do that it-s your word against his. You accuse him of unfairly representing Linux when you are doing the same thing to him

Anthony (who is in the LTT video you mentioned) is a big Linux nerd, and LTT has done other videos on or involving Linux that I believe are better than the one you mentioned. They also did one where they used Linux with a hypervisor to run Hackintosh easier than the more common method.

Pretty sure the Linus Tech Tips video was not sponsored by that company. I believe they have to state in the video if the video is sponsored and by who. And I can't imagine Linus doing doing a sponsored video without stating it even if that was allowed.

Here's the thing. Most of the serious Linux users don't have time to make videos to entertain users. Time is spent 1. making products for others, 2. learning new projects and 3. contributing to open source projects.
