Thanks for checking out Herbstluftwm in more detail, Derek. I'm sure you will have it humming along in no time. I know if I tried it out I'd likely just spend a lot of time making it work like my qtile setup, with which I-m very happy. :-)
By the way, I've encountered very few bugs in qtile, but I have noticed that sometimes if a window is narrow and I open vim in it, vim gets confused as to the number of columns available. I don't know if this is qtile or the Fedora feature for vim that manages vim window sizing. If I resize the window the problem goes away. Annoying, but there is no problem with gvim, so I've just been using it. Lately I've been learning some Prolog, and of the editors I have, the one with the best syntax highlighting for this language is Mousepad! Go figure.

Only a few days into Hlwm in ArcoLinux. I've assigned mod+F(1-10) to launch my usual apps in designated tags, and Hlwm switches automatically to them. Very efficient. I tend to run apps in monocle mode, and to have the core apps launch at startup, which is super easy to setup in i3. Haven't figured it out completely in Hlwm yet. The frames functions are kinda cool, but not part of my usual workflow.

dwm actually had its initial release about a year after wmii, and both of those were around the 2005-2006 time. Around 2000 both larswm and Ion released their initial versions and even way back when Xerox had a tiling window manager in the 1980s

Hey Derek. Can you make a video about transitioning from Windows to Linux for beginners? I'm trying to convince a few friends and could use a good video to show them. Thank you!
Also, you said GitHub instead of GitLab at 2:48 :D .

I've been using i3 for around 3 years now I think. Haven't felt the need to hop around, but I'm like that with everything. If it meets my needs I don't bother finding something that may meet my needs better.

Really enjoying this 'series' I've been following alone with the hopping, so far dwm has been my favorite. Sadly I'm using a lot of Java related things right now so couldn't continue using it. :/

Derek, I wanted to know if you have to reinstall the entire distro whenever you switch to a new window manager or whenever you install more than 2 on a particular distro. Thanks :)

Hey Derek, I am using herbstluft myself but I have to admit I never figured out how I can use another panel like polybar. Can you explain how you did get polybar to work on hlwm?
