Great stuff Derek, gnome drawer is a killer app for me, couldn't find any Linux apps for it for screencasts so had to stream OBS virtual monitor to a Win tablet and draw and record there instead (to avoid drawing 'blind' on a green screened window into OBS').
Also NexDock looks killer. Been intrigued since the 2012 Asus padfone but couldn't skip on a full laptop till now. A lot of cheap tablets and convertibles can morph into thin VNC clients for your laptop, server or VPS.
Phones as well, some of the last Lumia models before the plug has wireless display and VNC clients in the store and with Windows 10 on its way to ARM they can be kept going. But then you typically need a larger display anyway which might be a Nexdock though it shouldn't creep into the 200$ range.
The cheapo Surface RT and 2 can be jailbreaked (broken?) and have great displays and battery life. Android tablets probably as well, Samsung DEX is similar (and the Ubuntu unity phone oh well... ). Convergence is coming!

I think NexDock is a fantastic push forward. This has been a huge failing in mobile devices for many years now. Although, I really think it should be something that's handled on the OS side rather than a dedicated -dock- to do the conversion, allowing you to plug into any type of monitor and use whatever HID you choose. This would still give space to folks wanting to make docks that give you all this in a simple package. It could even open up the potential for hopped-up docks with extra features such as RAM, storage, or processing power.

Gnome gets better and better. If I uninstall evolution and some dev software it is using 1GB of memory. That is not bad for a full desktop environment. From 3.32 it is even better but... I having new windows opening inactive now :) I can't find any info is it a bug or just my system. Well nothing is perfect :)

The rules about copyright permission won't affect Google; they'll just extend their terms of service -by using Google services, you agree to allow us to link to all of your content as required by the EU copyright directives.- So 99% of people already give permission to Google.

I tried Gnome on Wayland on an Ubuntu mini install, and I have to say I'm impressed. The only problem I have with it is the lack of unredirect full screen windows, vsync if forced on and I don't know of any way to change it.

Hey Distrohuggers,
According to the Lubuntu web-site, they had a major server catastrophe recently, and their back-up also failed. Someone apparently had a snapshot of most of it, so they are allegedly up and running again.

Sway and the devs have been doing SO MUCH for wayland implementation!!!
Glad you brought more attention to it! Someday I hope I can understand how to work it out. I'm still working on trying to get my sway configs in order.

Thank you EU for article 13, now I can finally build my own Linux distro using tweezers(zip ties) and a Swiss Army knife without DT making fun of me.
