nice video! Customization looks very similar to how foobar2000 on windows works. I might give this deabeef a shot, have been using mpv for everything forever . Also, incredibly based and boomer pilled music collection, Heart is just great. I unironically understood the value of Huey Louis and the news after reading American Psycho, it's Patrick Bateman's favorite band, and there are long reviews and analysis of the albums throughout the book.

HELPP!!
- the version you download from the site does not work on Ubuntu/PopOS. no sound
- the snap version in the repo works but cant handle files on mounted devices, only files in the home dir. there is some obscure snap command that you can give read privileges with but still no write privs (for taging for example)
other music players are shittier but at least work out of the box.
i want foobar2000 back from windows... D:

Just tried deadbeef on ubuntu and out the box its unreal and playing dsf files no issue via ALSA or pulseaudio setup. Absolutely no problems setting up . My question is you know how it converts the DSD/ DSF file to PCM , how much loss in kbps is there as it only shows the source bitrate at the bottom of the program where the info is. Is there any way to find out ?? Thanks

I used to be annoyed that Foobar2000 wasn't ported over to Linux but they were worrying about Android (When there's tonnes of decent Android audio players but at the time, wasn't a huge amount of variety for Linux users) until I found DeaDBeeF. Excellent player, basically don't care either way if foobar is ported nowadays because I already have DeaDBeeF.

I just figured out how to get around the headphone jack not playing anymore due to new battery app optimization settings in android. Before it 'just worked'; now its:
Deadbeef in apps-->power-->optimized for battery y/n? --> option above this, click 'show all', uncheck deadbeef, go back
It should now show the app as 'not optimized', congrats

I created the /home/---/.local/lib/deadbeef folder and none of the .so plugins I added will appear as an option...
Oh ffs it started working after I put the files in /opt/deadbeef/lib/deadbeef, it then threw an error when I opened it saying they're duplicated so I deleted them from the root folder and the local files started working...

One thing I would add that you didn't touch on is that deadbeef is one of the only players that allow you to utilise bit perfect playback via alsa. This is very important for those playing flac files with their laptop plugged into a good quality DAC.
I didn't know how customisable it is with the screen splitting so thanks for that!

Not only it has minimalistic and easily customizable UI, it also can play tracks from archives, has working out of the box audio converter and understands non-UTF-8 CUE files. It's a decent alternative for foobar2000 on Linux. If only it had cloud and online capabilities of Clementine-

I have a pretty simple MPD+MPC config on my rig and it's surprising how simple a music player can be. I just setup my playlist and run mpc play in the terminal and voila! I can see what's playing with a conky output in my status bar. I don't see the need to go to a more complex player.

Thank you for the tip. I'll give it a try.)
I'm using Audacious. Lol. Like Winamp alternative, but why not to try this one? XD
Yep. Especially considering, that I've got used to GTK interface of Audacious.
UPD: That's it. Switched to DeadBeef.)
