Broot Is A Better Way To Navigate Directories DistroTube Broot is a free and open source command line utility that is a great alternative to the standard tree command. It allows you to view the directory structure, perform fuzzy searches, run commands on the selected files or directories, and much more. Broot can replace your ls command. - https://github.com/Canop/broot

I thought this looked great, but after a bit of playing around, I'm a little disappointed. I already see that it's more limited than I'd hoped. I can't see any way to sort or filter the file list, e.g. alphabetically, folders-before-files, by file type (other than folders only), etc. And the -pt- command simply outputs the same list you see, colors and -nn unlisted- lines and all.
In short, I don't see any way to customize what gets displayed or exported, at least not without diving deep and learning how to configure custom commands. _tree_ may not be interactive, but at least it allows a good amount of output control.
On the other hand, I do like the 'sizes- option. Right away it helped me discover one directory that was using up a surprisingly larger amount of data than I'd thought (an work-in-progress audio project, something I now know I need to move to the top of my priority queue).

I used to use MC a lot, which I really liked. Then I discovered two programs, ona called -bat- (Better cAT) and FZF (FuZzy Find). When combining them like this -fzf --preview '-/bin/bat -- --color=always'- you get extremely fast fuzzy search with live preview of the file on right. It is extremely useful when navigating different configs or source code. Oh, and I forgot, bat have syntax highlighting and different themes! Obviously, I still do use MC but Broot looks like a nice alternative I might try! :) Thank you.

I really like Broot after trying it out. The better flags to run to be like exa would be br -hp. With br -hp you don't end up with that tree like expansion happening during the fuzzy search which can make the terminal look cluttered. Can also be combined with the Size flag which is really useful, br -hps.

Just getting into Linux. Using kubuntu. I m not happy with uts discover app. Is there any other app store that i can use? And thinking of installing i3 or any other WM. But i am unable to find any good tutorial for uninstalling the WM. Any help?

Looks nice, but -br- not listing anything for me (except in --sizes mode). I guess what is the reason: I'm using git bare repo in my $HOME with .gitignore file to ignore everything except dotfiles.

Thank you for posting this -- broot is AWESOME. Have it running on Debian at home and MacOS Catalina here at work. I've been looking for something like this for a long time.

6:21 I see what look like Emacs temp files at the top, only they-re dated months prior to the publication date of this video.

DT, I-m running Arcolinux with MATE on my W-510. What would be the best tiling manager for a -new to tiling managers- users?
