Creating Packages For Arch Linux With Help From Bigpod DistroTube In this video, Linux YouTuber and community member, Bigpod, will walk me (and you) through the process of how to create a package for Arch Linux. These packages can be submitted to the AUR or used locally on your machines. Hi!
I created a simple program in Python, but I can't understand how to create an AUR package (I also want to create a Flatpack later), I spent a whole day, I can't understand how it works. I read the documentation, looked at the PKGBUILD samples, I don't understand how to link it all together.
The program consists only of these files (all these files are located in the same folder):
____init.py__ __ - just an empty file
main.py -main window
ui_main.py - main window design (imported from Qt Designer)
ui_options.py - options window design (imported from Qt Designer)
ui_about.py - about window design (imported from Qt Designer)
The main window in the course of its operation needs to be pre-installed on 3 components in Manjaro Linux, since it makes their call :
ffmpeg
mediainfo
mkvtoolnix-cli
Please tell me what I need to do to create an AUR package and place it in the repository, if possible in detail.
Thanks!

LOL, finally I've found an interesting video about Linux xD
Sometimes I modify existing PKGBUILD files to -tweak- some apps. This way I've made a GTK3 build of Geeqie, an image browser that can be found in Arch repos, but only with GTK2 support. I've modified the PKGBUILD from Arch website and it seems to work pretty well, at least as far as I've tested it. Anyway, thanks for the vid, it's really useful.

ST depends on libxft. It has no make dependncies listed, it doesn't use git to build the actual AUR package. Either way, you guys could easily have figured all this stuff out with -yay -Si st-

In Arch, 'base' is a package, but it has dependencies to other ones. On the other hand, 'base-devel' is a proper group.
$ pacman -Si base
$ pacman -Sg base-devel

Thank you, Derek. Creating packages is bloat; catch them free-range. (Just realized I had not used a bloat joke in a while. Seriously, great topic.) And thank you, Bigpod.

This was fantastic! Would love to see something like this done from scratch--maybe a -hello world- program from -no source- to -aur ready-. Keep up the great work!

This was fantastic, I'll start to make my own packages of the suckless team. It would be interesting to see how to create a deb package for the AUR, Great Video.

I love the way arch does packages. I have multiple packages in the AUR, and I make only AUR packages because making apt and rpm repos is a nightmare.

lol saw the title and thought bigpod was a piece of software. Clicked the video and saw it's another person. What a roller coaster that was.

I don't even use Arch, but it was interesting to see how Arch handles packages compared to NixOS. Thank you and Bigpod for the video.
