So Much Turns Out To Be The Opposite Of What You Expected DistroTube Today, I spotted another boomer walking around in my yard. This boomer had some rather incoherent thoughts on how so much of the things he has gotten into, he went into them expecting one thing and instead got the opposite

For me linux is just a pain in the ass I have to use for programming school. My wifi dongle didn't work even with driver hacks, if I disconnect my hdmi my audio driver quits, and the screen freezes when I plug it back in, there is massive screen tearing i had to fix, and doesnt stay if I change hdmi ports on my graphics card, I cant just click a file to do installs a lot of the time- I have to run lines of code in terminal, I have to custom build a driver for my drawing monitor and run it each time I want to use it, etc.
Like it's cool to have the customization and I can even make it look like a Mac desktop, but dear lord the quality of life stuff is still severely lacking. Even as a programmer, I don't want to open a terminal to do everything and I wish they would quit teaching that -this is more efficient and convenient- in school- it's really not. It's just a bunch more commands I have to learn on top of the half a dozen languages I study. I hate WIndows, and I want Linux to be a great alternative but it's still got a long way to go.

It comes down to software for me. Like, I rip my CD's to FLAC with dBpoweramp, which supports Windows / Mac but not Linux (I'm aware applications on Linux can do this, but even the other Windows ones pale in comparison IMO, like EAC). Likewise, games themselves run pretty fine on Linux now, but game -related- software, like save editors, mod managers, mod tools, etc, you're looking at running it manually through WINE at best, and I really just don't like the idea of polluting my Linux with Windows stuff anyway.
For that reason, while I use Linux, I keep a Windows machine.

I agree with you 100% Derek. I never cared to learn anything about Windows under the hood like I do Linux. I just didn't want Windows to break and have to seek the nearly impossible help to fix it. With Linux I never stop wanting to know and do more with it. As for the weight points, you're spot on there too. Thanks for sharing the yard stroll again today, I always enjoy those!

well fox news is just crazy, but all the other news stations is just as crazy .. they are all FOR big business and war ... the most crazy thing about this is there is no news station for the people, what do 70% of the people want .... not a sound ....... they don't want to talk about that

Yep YT was an ad revenue cash grab in the beginning posting their cutest & funniest vids. Nice to finally see all the niche content that is being made these days! Am a big DIY guy, makes me wonder how much I could do if all this was around when I was a kid.

I agree, that's my experience too. I was windows user for quite some time untill I was sort of forced to push to the otherside. Ever since installing linux on my laptop I've felt happy about using the pc and programming as well.

I really liked this video. Speaking from a more personal point of view about linux and larger things with a nice backdrop and birds singing in the background is a great change. Made me smile. Thanks!

Actually this days windows became pretty good than what it was. I use vim inside powershell and I learned to like powershell and to understand it better
