I think the provider of that mastodon server was wrong for banning you for giving an opinion. I don't know what Trump is other than a Trumpist. He could have said in the past that he has democratic views or Republican views or whatever views that serve him at the time. What is undeniable is that he has taken the flag of white nationalists and become their leader. Whether he really is or not is irrelevant. Regarding twitter/FB/Mozilla: I do think it's up to the laws to deal with dangerous misinformation and the consequences. However corporations have been under the gun for enabling that misinformation. Misinformation is different than -opinions- or -perspectives-. If someone is saying lies about you and encouraging people to attack you based on those lies, of course it's up to the authorities to respond, however, how would you feel about the medium through which those lies were spread? I know you don't like to discuss politics. This is just food for thought.

This is almost hillarious! Brightened my day - even tech guys can get into spats.
But on a serious note - what is so wrong with Trump? I don't follow news much, but even here in UK, as soon as Trump was elected, the BBC and other serious media all started disrespecting him from day one, before he had actually had a chance to do anything. From what I saw, he did one good thing - raised employment (a lot of people got jobs), and one bad thing - stopped US payments to World Health organisation.
Before you all jump on me to beat me up, please understand, I don't watch that much TV and we don't get to hear that much about what Trump is doing now. Just someone please explain - what's the story with Trump? Why is he so polarising, or would the lack of respect and polarisation be there anyway, even without him?

You are a good man, sir. Great respect. Even though you are not bald. It is time for us to simply be done with these race-huckster crazies. They are too far gone to be worth messing with, and we are better off to just rebuild our own stuff without them.
(I only poke not-bald fun because I love you man.)
Also, if I were a betting man, I'd put good money on your cat being fine even if you can't find him. Up here in more-snow-country, mine tend to hole up when there is snow on the ground. He's probably hiding in some warm hole somewhere waiting for it to melt off so he doesn't get his precious little paws cold!
I do hope he is alright though. Cats are important folk.

I have been looking into the fediverse lately and I do find it disturbing how censorious it is. Sure you can create your own; but if a large chunk of it uses the same ban list (they do) your server will end up on its own island anyway. It really makes you appreciate the utility of the idea that instances should be small with limited users who preferably know each other, because you're still trusting an admin to determine what content you are allowed to see.
On the main global ban list i found, while many were in fact 4chan tier nazi trolls, some were merely listed as banned for supporting -free speech-..

It's a shame when admins / mods / janitors etc on a site or service abuse their positions to pick on users for various reasons. Sometimes they start the [superuser] position well-intentioned but then the power gets to them or something, or these days a new wave of outrage pops up and even mild expressions are treated as some kind of Extremism a week later. Good luck with your new instance, and I hope the services you use have more solid admins who do right by -all- of their users, instead of the dime-a-dozen mercurial tyrant variety (no disrespect to people who prefer hg to git :-).

What happens now in USA happened in italy and germany in 35-37...which eventually lead to WWII.
Other side is scared of konservative side,other side sees communism spreading...soon came censoring and purges...this started in italy...year later Hitler did same in germany.
Anyone who knows history can connect dots.and thats scary.
Leftists have become modern day fasists, they are paranoid and scared.its just small step forward before we see something even more scarier...
Too bad most modern day individuals dont know history at all.

I'm currently a full-time Cybersecurity student and started late in life due to getting injured in first career and other issues. I can not tell you enough how awesome of a resource your videos have been. I will definitely be trying to join the instance and appreciate the fact you stood up for what the truth is. Very few people do anymore. Thank you for all the help and time you have put into these videos. They are an enormous help and encouragement!

Have you not heard? you're not allowed to have opinions or disagree with these people as they find it very distressing when someone steps outside of their deranged reality, resulting in them usually attacking, reporting or cancelling as they are utterly incapable of having any logical, factual or friendly debate of ideas. I cannot wait until their communities start eating themselves in their attempt to ironically become whiter than white.

Well farg him then. Not sure how i got here but as a long time user of mozilla software etc, I will be removing my account and any trace of Mozilla. you earned my sub. I am so sick of these misinformed human pylons spreading mistruths to support their rhetoric. Yes I am Canadian so im not Bias to American Politics as most would think. Facts over feelings. Mastedon can go die along with twitter in the binary obis.
