Bill Gates stated - people overstate impact of IT in 2 years and understate in 10 years. -
I think we will see developer consensus on 1-2 commercial platforms within 8 years and each platform will have out-of-box solutions for main horizontal use cases work, entertainment, cooking, travel within 10. But we will see also opensource and it will eventually dominate the commercial business segment unless a trusted platform fees get into 1-2% of sales. Apples 30% fees will need to end.

i also believe this gonna be the future, but but but but... it will only work if we gonna give up our privacy .... because when i play poker stars vr... little zhit kids are acting exactly upper-sit of what they will do face to face.... so.......... we are the very beginning of the future... be proud of that... we all pioneers ;)

A huge failure of imagination to think of the future as just a bitmap of the past. Aspects of shared experience are important but real transformational ideas are discovered rather than imposed. The #1 reason the web succeeded is because it didn't have an owner who tried to capture all the value.

Nah, not for me. I don't even use my webcam in meetings most of the time.
I haven't used Facebook in years. No intention in signing up for their desperate attempt to stay relevant.
As for the whole selling point that -it'll be so lifelike- - I'll stick with reality thanks.

Meta just lost 232 BILLION with a B dollars. -- BTW, those were REAL dollars! Thank you for a great explanation Kevin! I do bet many people will go from a net worth of a million dollars to a net of 300 million. How many will lose everything is the question. -

Living outside of NYC I remember a multi day power outage one summer in the early 2000-s. Everyone was outside, neighbors talking. Nothing like real interaction. Seeing people with VR googles is just weird. I-d prefer real tangible experiences.

The truth is that we are in a generation where people are with great innovative ideas. And I think this would have a positive effect on speed of the full materialization of the Metaverse.
Thanks Kevin for this amazing tutorial.

Metaverse being decades away means, that we will never be able to fully experience it if we just take a look at global climate change. To me, it is wasted resources and potential, that could be invested into our REAL future.
