Power Query Approximate Match VLOOKUP - My Online Training Hub There's no equivalent function to perform an approximate match in Power Query like we can in Excel with VLOOKUP, but there is a super easy workaround that I demonstrate in this video. Download the Excel file here: https://www.myonlinetraininghub.com/power-query-approximate-match-vlookup

Hi - thank you for this video. I'm much more well versed in Excel formulas, and am just beginning to get to grips with Power Query.
When would it ever be more useful or better practice to do this in PQ, rather than as a formula calculation in the original table?
e.g. such as using VLOOKUP, or even simply =MOD(MONTH(B2),4)+1 for the second example

Congrat for you tips.
I have a doubt. CAn you help me.
When you have a row for each initial sequency it works e.g. (first day of , but what should we do in case of the row number 4 was 999. The result will be 15% instead of 10%. I dont know if I was clear.

If I have a three name in the column like ,India,Delhi, Gurgaon .if I get filter in India column and I work .but problem is this previous value has been finished , like Delhi, Gurgaon data we could not find kindly solve my problem

I think it will work only if exact values are found in the 2 table .. othwerwise when you merge both tables no value witth exact matching will be found and the fill in down won't work

Hi Mynda, if I were to add new snapshot data to power query each month end, would this approximate v look up trick still work on the new added data? Thanks in advance
reply

This trick only works if every value has at least one exact match in the table. Is there a way of doing this in a big table where no exact matches will be found?

Hi Mynda. Just watched this again. Even better than the first time, now that I understand more about Power Query :)) As always.. thanks much! Thumbs up!!
