Braver: A Brave Fork Without The Crap - Techlore Notice: Unfortunately, Brave threatened to sue them and the project has ceased all forms of communication and updates since then. Their GitHub repo is dead, their Discord server is dead, and no word on the project has been released. I consider them a dead project at the time of writing this - hopefully I'm wrong. Someone finally forked Brave aiming to remove Brave Rewards, BAT, and everything else ad/cryptocurrency related. Is this a new browser option for privacy and security? I used brave as it was smooth fast and less memory hog than others. But when I found out it was leaking my location even with my vpn on I stopped using it. Was using it on iOS as well as macOS both same issues. It-s not a very good thing to have your location revealed when you need to mask or take advantage of certain things even when shopping. Just my thoughts here.

Thanks for the info! That casts Brave in a completely different light. I didn't realize that cryptocurrency was built into the browser! When I hear that, I wonder if it's hijacking my phone to -mine- something, which would NOT be okay! Can't say that I trust the leadership of a bigot either.

This is perfect, I can't trust it 100% though because it's based on brave and I dislike brave, but it's worth thinking about. I am afraid there are things brave will do that they could miss, better to wait some time to see if it can be maintained for long and such, at least when it's done

I still have the Brave browser but since their latest scandel I have used it a lot less. I will definitelt consider moving over to the new Braver browser once it is up and running.

There already is a Brave derivative that does all that and is not in Beta etc. Available for multiple platforms. It's called Dissenter and you can find it at dissenter. com.

What's the problem with Firefox, honestly I use it since ever and my only complain is his use of resources in some of my old laptops, but other than that it just work. ---

The privacy part of Brave is just a way to market the browser, if you ask me. I don't think the are really all in about privacy and the privacy will erode over time.
