Just bought a MacBook Pro 16 M1 Max and downloaded Lightroom Classic & Photoshop. I have Raw images on my old Windows 7 laptop that are in a document folder in My Pictures. They are individual folders for the date and the place I shot that day. What is the best way to get them from where they are now and onto my SSD and ready for Lightroom? I also just got a Sansdisk 1TB SSD, still in the package. Not sure if I should format the SSD on my Mac first then plug into my old laptop and drag each individual folder as a whole onto the SSD or actually open each folder and drag the images to the SSD. Have about 30 folders and each folder has between 10-80 images each in it.

I have been using LR Classic for over 14 years daily and learned a lot of the increased options in catalog control that has been introduced since I got into my current habits. It really is as lot more powerful in maintaining and controlling the catalogs than I imaged. With the additions of the enhanced masking and subject selection additions I seldom have to move to Photoshop to fine tune an image. To keep up with all the updates, subscribing to the Photographers Bundle for about $13/month is an excellent investment, even for amateur photographers.

Thanks for this. As others have pointed out, its a really detailed instructional manual that makes it easier to understand exactly what certain tools can do. I know Lightroom mobile is adding features pretty consistently, and I wonder if you think its reached a point where the 1 tb of cloud storage makes it a better choice than classic or cc. I have all, but I use mobile almost exclusively because of the convenience of the cloud storage and Wonder of its okay to cancel my classic/photoshop subscriptions.

This video is fantastic - thank you! But unfortunately I'm still not grasping LRClassic in re: to the catalogs and workflow. When you choose Move you are moving from SD card to external HD? Or did you go from SD -> Folder on Desktop -> LRC -> External hard drive? Sorry - making the move from LRCC and having a hard time starting over on LRC. Thank you!
