I don't think I ever commented at the time, but this video saved my life earlier this spring. I needed to design the layout for my college's literary and visual arts magazine a tidy little 64-page publication with no prior experience using Adobe software whatsoever. Feeling absolutely in over my head and helplessly googling variations on how fast to learn indesign for beginners and cool royalty free cover designs for books, I stumbled on this video over the course of two weekends, splitting the tutorial into two sessions for my sanity, I sat down at one of the campus library's Macs and followed along religiously with this dude.
I swear to god, he is not kidding when he tells you that he'll teach you all the basic skills you need to know. I think there was like, one or two things I looked up after the fact to suit my specific needs stuff like how to make the page numbers start on a later page, or the step-by-step to make all my rgb images cmyk, probably but putting together a tourism brochure while holding this video's hand like we were crossing the street together gave me all the skills, familiarity, and confidence I needed to tackle the project. Such a fantastic course. You rock, Dan.

I have worked with Indesign over several years but did not the last 3-4 years, so I needed a fresh-up and learned from you also things that I did not know before. Maybe you can give me a little advice: when I place text directly from a file as you showed in your tutorial, my little plus for exceeding text is on the left hand side and the text is aligned to right. If I place text by first creating a text box and then doing copy-paste this does not happen.

Absolutely loved this training. Recently found an InDesign template that I wanted to use for a project and needed to self educate on using the software. Daniel is an excellent teacher, makes learning interesting and fun, and makes this beginners course a much-welcomed learning experience. Excited to get started on this project. I learned so much watching this! Went through the design very quickly because the way you explained was simplified and easy to follow. People can get too wordy and overkill where people lose attention or don't even follow what they're teaching. So simplified is good thing, thanks Dan!

My only question, when you exported the pdf, it was still an RGB file right, so wouldn't the colors be off for print?

I would request you to increase the view size. The UI looks so tiny. Makes it difficult to view on a laptop
