Now i know Google is the issue, not android!
My first phone is htc when blackberry dominate the market! There-s No random adds popup on app launcher back then!
My last Android phone is galaxy s3!
I switch my last android because -unfortunately google service has stopped- after android store turn to playstore!
i had no issue with the hardware but no update available, root can-t solve the problem --
Even my ancient ipad 2015 still have an newest OS update

Rob,
Thanks for this incredible video. I'm a cyber security professional for over 15 yrs and I'm no stranger to diving into the details of software. I own a couple of phones with Kali ARM and I also installed Ubuntu on one that doesn't work very well. Anyway, I've been a OnePlus user since the days of 'Invitation Only' and I have a OnePlus T3 sitting here in it's box. Do you provide instructions on how to de-Google a OnePlus?

I've been unlocking and rooting android phones for about 5 years. Just de googled my galaxy m51 recently. I never want to go back. Best decision anyone can make for their android phone. Its definitely time consuming and a bit difficult to learn but once you do its a world of difference in terms of privacy, performance, and battery life. You aren't completely private but its a step in the right direction.

Rather than using a degoogled phone, I would like to use Sailfish OS. However, I would like to clone the Sony Xperia 10 ii drive before I do that. Do you know if/how to do this in Linux? I am looking for a command similar to $ sudo dd if=/dev/nvme0n1 - gzip -c > -/data/backup_nvme0n1. img. gz, but of course for the phone. Thanks in advance.

A de-Googled Android phone is amazing and works perfectly well. The only problem I've encountered and the only reason I don't de-Google my current phone is that some banking apps don't work on custom ROM phones, or phones that don't have Google services.

What do you think of Huaweii? Its not google technically right? I understand it has some affiliation with the chinese govt, but if i am using this phone in the US and it doesnt have google- is this a good thing? is it -degoogled-?

. You must of appreciated that scene in -The Defenders- When Stick reached into Danny Rand's suit, removed his cellphone, dropped it on the floor, and smashing it with his foot while calling him a -thundering jackass-.

Every time I try looking into this again I get more confused!
He says if you have a phone you bought from a retailer it can't be degoogled. So how do you de Google any phone?

This was very educational, thank you. I learned so much that I didnt know while being in the linux phone community. And also worried about google-spyware details.
