wow. I have been saying this since 2fa(email or cell) came out. to this day I refuse to use 2fa unless I have to, to be able to use the app/program. if time based is available, I enable that only. I am switching to Linux cell and computer some time this year as I am doing research before I just jump in. I wish more people would stand up to this as when people accept this it will never change. I am making a change by not using corp crap(google, apple etc. As for unlocking the phone or anything the only one I will do is finger as it only captures part(s) of the finger not the full print. Unless I-m wrong someone reply if you have proof, I would like to know if a company is doing this.

I'm an old school hacker, who now works in government. I don't agree with everything you say, because I think you don't fully understand the hacker mentality, as is true with many security experts. I don't mean that to be an insult. Security experts are often way off target and miss the real threats, because they follow the herd. Believe me when I tell you that most security experts in government are not very skilled either. They understand policies, but often do not understand the reason behind policies. They create a security echo chamber that just repeats nonsense to each other. However, on this issue YOU ARE CORRECT. 2FA is data collection disguised as security.

-The real threat folks is that big tech will know all your political beliefs, religious beliefs, social circle, your level of gullibility and thus have the ability to manipulate what you see. And again they will be able to track this irrespective of multiple Google ID's. The danger of this individualized tracking to society cannot be underestimated. There is already a 'Belief Map' that can isolate pockets of communities with anti-vax views for example or gun owners. You alone can't stop it. Just like the case for Right to Repair, people need to talk about it, to their family, spread it to friends, spread it all over.
Eventually, it needs to be talked about at the government level and laws need to be enacted.
It will be a slow process.
Exactly like how people are learning about call centers in India playing IRS, Apple, Norton and other companies.

I own (3) Samsung Galaxy tablet computers. But, I do not own a cell phone. I am completely unable to establish a -Samsung- account because they have a 2FA requirement. They require being able to send a text to your cell phone and you must provide the number. I only have a landline at my house. Not text capable. There are many features I am unable to access because of this requirement. UGG!

Very informative video! In just a very short and condensed sentence, the real objective of the 2FA big tech is using right now is intruding on your privacy since they already had a 2FA way that doesn't require your identity to be exposed. It sounds like the future will be like the Black Mirror TV series.

Yubikeys work for me. You need two keys for youtube though. The average person isn't going to own 2 Yubikeys, so it's an obvious ploy to get your phone number. You can literally feel their butthurt through the screen when they are like -Now register a SECOND key- and you're like. -OK-

There is no way out. I prefer to use 2FA and not be in the hands of hackers trying to scam me or steal my accounts. Given the lack of options I prefer to be spied on by companies and not be a victim of criminal activity. It doesn't make me happy, but it's the sad reality.
