I agree with Brad that probably $350 will become the new normal for 1080p cards, unfortunately. though I'd argue that the 2060 was there in practice anyway.
What i /would/ say is that I'd be very unhappy if the new norm for 1080p was actually $400-450 (in practice) due to the pricing of partner cards.
In reality, the problem this generation isn't so much the actual suggested MSRP as much as it is the cost of the basic partner cards.
I also agree with Adam that consumers aren't -happy- about paying these prices - I wasn't but I really wanted something to play modern games on and my 1060 6GB just wasn't cutting it any longer even at 1080p.
Many people are at the point of needing to upgrade in order to keep playing and their choices are stop their main hobby or pay more. This time around, under the current circumstances, people are mostly choosing to pay. I don't think that situation will hold for the next generation of cards but I want l wasn't willing to wait two years and I suspect many others won't be either.
That is also a reason why I went high-ish end for a 1080p output. Going low-end resulted in a compromised experience from the very beginning and was intolerable for me when I sold the 1060. Given the price creep, a $500-650 RTX 3060Ti/ RTX 3070 / RX 6700 XT / RX 6800 are arguably too powerful for 1080p but they're not that much more expensive than buying the $350 - 450 RTX 3060 / RX 6600 /RX 6600XT but their graphical performance is actually raised quite a bit more than the difference in cost!

Microsoft has obliged everyone to use TPM, because it contains a backdoor for the NSA. The whole confusion is caused, because older TPM 2. 0 versions do not yet contain that backdoor for the NSA. E. g. the first Ryzen CPUs did have TPM 2. 0 (fTMP, but they missed the NSA backdoor, because the NSA had no interest in AMD CPUs, no market-share. The NSA changed their mind, seeing the success of Ryzen, so the 12nm and 7nm CPUs do have that NSA backdoor. That is why the 14nm Ryzen 3 2200G will NOT be supported, but the 12nm Ryzen 3 3200G will be supported by Windows 11.
In the beginning uninformed Microsoft employees told you, you could use CPUs with TPM 1. 2 and TPM 2. 0, because they believed, it was all about Microsoft protecting your security, but it was all about promoting the secret NSA backdoor. That is why Microsoft had to pull that Win 11 compatibility utility. That is why Microsoft introduced in a hurry the list of CPUs, that would be supported by Windows 11.
That Win 11 CPU support list is a great feature moving forward. If you want to keep the US government out of your PC, only use CPUs that are NOT on that Win 11 support list. To be even more safe, use Linux from European distros, like OpenSUSE (Germany) or Ubuntu (UK) or even Deepin (China. The Chinese spy too, but if you don't live in their country, it is less relevant.
FREEDOM!

Because of the one (Keith or Brad) who upgraded his 980 Ti due to a disappointing performance of his 980 Ti in Assassin's Creed Odyssey, I just did some research to see how the 980 Ti performs compared to the 1080 and the 5700 XT based on 36 games and two resolutions per game (1080p and 1440p. Two observations: For Assassins Creed O -1080p the 980 Ti still suffices, without any tweaking, on average there is 30-35% higher FPS for the 5700 XT with the minimum just over 20% and the maximum 50-55%. The 1080 aged a lot better, it does get outperformed by the 5700 XT but the 1080 was a better purchase given that it came out 3 years earlier for only $100-200 more.
-Keith I have not seen the Shining yet. So yes, some people need this spoiler alert. ;) I was too young when it came out to be allowed to watch it and when I was allowed to watch it the movie was less relevant so I missed it.

Microsoft demanding everyone have an account with Microsoft so Microsoft can keep them secure is a joke. Microsoft as a company that has had numerous breaches, for example just recently -Microsoft has acknowledged an access misconfiguration where 250 million customer records were exposed on a database without password protection. The exposed records. date from 2005 to December 2019. - So, for security you must trust the company that exposed 250 mil accounts, over a 15 year period, because of course. they will protect you and don't want to allow you to do anything that will be insecure. LMAO. So, Gordon you don't make everyone more secure by requiring storing all security keys with one party with a bad history of security breaches!

It is ridiculous to think that giving your encryption key to compromised third party with no oversight and history of selling you out will improve your security. They were not justifying it becuase there is no way to justify it, they probably just got the order from NSA to do it and not talk about it, as usual.

In regard to this question of MS locking your software via TPM. I am your friendly neigboorhood Linux-user and not even I am worried about that. I would be worried about MS delting files in my user-folder, because that actually happened. Probably by accident because some algorithm went wild, but it did.

Interesting topics for sure as all these topics are pretty much wait and see hehe.
Also i cannot have beard my skin will not tolerate it itches, rash, etc in the end i said screw it. Nice show lads

I don't understand how this TMP and bitlocker( I think that's what it's calls) stuff will work with a portable hard drive? does this mean I will not be able to use my steam drive on multiple systems?
reply

If gpu's get hard to sell for and and stuff they will just come out with new 4000 ones or make super editions of current ones they won't allow there selfs to be effected -

Great show! The SSD question was interesting, it would be nice to invite your SSD reviewer (Jon Jacobi if I recall correctly) to talk about drives someday.
