In today's episode we are joined by special guest Tom Petersen from Intel to talk everything Arc GPUs! Read about Intel Arc on PCWorld. com Milo: 100% I've known Gordon since 1997-1998, and he is a real stand up guy. Just to give an example, we are both extreme level tech guys who know their stuff and in 32+ years of system building, repairing and upgrading, etc, I ran into a issue with a Intel C606 boards that Gigabyte marketed as a X79 chipset but it wasn't & do to this chipset issue I just couldn't get Windows to install, so I called Gordon, and he actually spent 2-3 HOURS on the phone with me, he only knew me at the time for sending in my brand -VipersHardware PC's- to test & he did say that it destroyed everything in the lab, even the Alienware high end system, so there wasn't to much interaction back on the late 90's, but when I called him in 2013 to see if he had any ideas, we covered all the extra standard troubleshooting & between the 2 of us we narrowed it down to either a bad board, bad Intel CPU (which we both knew was highly unlikely, or a DVD drive INSTEAD of the 2 Blu-Ray drives I had in there and the system would boot off the Windows disk (and being a system builder I had many disks to try in case it was a bad disk, I even went out to Best Buy and bought a Retail Windows version) and still nothing, either BSOD, or a Windows screen for a moment and then black screen. Well it turned out to be that the C606 chipset doesn't officially support Blu-Ray drives for BOOT drives, so after grabbing a Asus DVD-RW and trying it, it installed and ran fine and Gordon spent 2-3 Hours of his time on the phone with me and this connection is not something that can be easily achieved, and as I am like that as well, if I see someone with -deer in the headlights eyes- at a store looking at a computer or PC part I'll ask if they need help or what they are looking for so Gordon is one of the rare few that doesn't just put up a -Nice guy front-, he actually is, it also doesn't hurt that we are both Star Trek Nerds.

AIBs will be deathly afraid to touch these cards save for AMDs AIB, remember what happened when XFX announced itd be making AMD cards a 10 years ago? Nvidia pulled their partner status rendering them exclusively AMD, so with that in mind, we'll likely see AMD makers jump on board and when theyre making profits nvidia might later on begrudgingly allow their partners to make them.
Unknowns: gigabyte, asus, and msi; will they jump right on board as they already supply both brands.
Theoretically, they could coordinate behind the scenes and publicly announce it together that theyre going to supply intel gpus

They want to be competitive with the pricing and the market will dictate that price. If it-s too high then no one will buy it, obviously, but then he says if it-s too low then it will get snapped up real quickly. I don-t see a problem with the latter. I do see a problem with pricing these where the market is currently at so hopefully the market has become consumer friendly when these arrive in 6 months.

Tom Peterson should work in the white house. Gordon: hey how is this, that and the other. Tom: this, that and the other sound great but we can't talk about it. Competition for a competitive vide card is very welcome but at this point I'm more interested in the steam deck. - Love the show keep it coming.

Overall this was great, having watched through now. Extremely informative.
I gotta say tho:
-Will you need a login-
-No- -
--Buuuuuut- -
Might have done better to not even go near positively spinning the GeForce Experience parallel, Tom.

Gordon is the most hilariously witty guy in the online tech space, never fails to crack me up even cross culture as a Brit. I feel most people don't appreciate his spur of the moment quips as people don't mine haha. Oh well, we know ourselves!

Nvidia and AMD have 20 years+ software/developer experience. Dont get fooled by intels -openness- as friendly they just have no choice. Think of any game. non of them were developed with intels gpus in mind.

Tom was the guy who can sell you a gpu arhitecture as his knowledge makes him a top tier expert in the GPU field, and if he can stand behind it then you have a good case for getting that product.

Certainly didn't sound like a great deal of commitment or enthusiasm in thwarting scalpers and miners to get gaming GPUs to gamers. Old boss same as the new boss vibe.
