So basically, as I understand, above the old layers of control, the new Intel Alder Lake will have another layer of control to -manipulate- performance by choosing which core to use. I found it hard to believe this will improve efficiency in the long run since we have to rely on Intel to write extremely great software/firmware to achieve this and Windows execution of that command.

No matter how it turns out, I'm excited for what's to come. After a long slump, the last few years in PC tech has been really exciting, plenty of innovation _and_ strong iterative progress. Curious on DDR5 and PCIE 5. 0 _device_ availability tho. That could potentially throw a big wrench in Intel's works.

PC World: Shintel just says that it's 10 nm. when in reality only those LOW POWERED 1/2 of cores possibly are 10 nm while those other 1/2 of cores that clocks much higher and are responsible for brute force of the performance, they are still on the old hybrid mixture between 22 nm and 14 nm.

intel abused its position for too long, without evolving and took advantage of it. This is the blow, even if intel is more financially attractive I would not go back, fed up with the changes. apple proves the change with the M1

I am glad Intel is trying to up its game, I am willing to support US engineering VS any other due to the fact we need to create more jobs and build our own chip infrastructure. Makes for a better economy for the US.

Been using 8700k-5. 3 ghz forever. Been gaming at 4K so there been so little reason to upgrade. I-m hoping to upgrade soon, but we shall see if it-s worth it. The ddr5 might be the reason, but time will tell.

Is it Alder Lake Vs Ryzen 5000? is it not Alder Lake vs Ryzen 6000 as Ryzen 3D which is now in production for their release at the end of the year at the same time as Alder Lake

AlderLake it is not about technology, it's about power consuming. AlderLake 12900k drowning 2x more power then 5950x ) If you don't have a heater at home, you can use AlderLake.
