Determining your CPU's core count is easy. What it says about your computers performance is a little more complicated. In this video Alaina walks you through the easy steps of determining how many CPU cores your PC has and lays out what that could mean for performance Bert: It is extremely simple, just google it using the CPU type: ) For a nice comparison of performance I use the pass-mark benchmark results, you can easily compare your CPU with 3 others in one page: )

Yes generations don't always mean a better jump, in my 14th desktop at home I've got a i9-9900KS for my Nov 2019 build and it destroys most 10th and even 11th gen Chips, not until the i9-12900k did the i9-9900KS get some serious competition

Or get SisoftSandra and it'll give you more information on your computer then you could imagine, like the maker of the individual SOJ modules on your RAM chips, BIOS revisions, speeds, PCIe lanes and so much more.

Talk to me like I am an idiot. Would rather have a technical deep dive. Is there an assembler instruction that returns CPU information? Can it be run from a C program?

Excellent video - as usual - Alaina. I'm sure there are many folks out ther who have no idea how many cores they have. You got another 'Like' from me -

More importantly balance your system, don't get a $800 CPU and and a $2900 GPU and then only spend $300 on RAM, Balance is key
