Learn how to CUSTOMIZE auto color correction in Photoshop CC. Automate curves adjustment to fix the color of your images and do a little bit of color grading in Photoshop in just one click. First off, Once we find a setting (not a preset) that works specifically for your type of photography, you can simply save it as a default and apply to your other similar images. This default, unlike a preset, will fix most of your images no matter whether they are over or under exposed. Sometimes, your images have that notorious blue cast or the colors look totally grayish. Instead of trying to manually fix that for every image, you can use this method to automatically do it, in addition to keeping your own preferences at the same time. We will accomplish this using Auto Options in the Curves Adjustment. If you are wondering how to use curves in Photoshop in the first place, and you think you have to have a little knowledge about it, I got to tell you that this does not require any kind of a prerequisite, just follow along. In the Options dialog box of Curves adjustment, once you have decided your settings, as explained in the video, save it as a default. To color correct in Photoshop, you just to go to Image, Auto Color. That option will keep n mind your preferences that you had saved earlier. This will save you much time in just removing color cast in Photoshop. To be honest, the biggest problem with auto color correction is that they just don't work on all images. You see, auto color makes your image look as if it was shot in white light. This will be counterintuitive when there is a desirable color cast. Suppose you are capturing the sunset and you don't want to let go of the golden color cast. At this point, just auto won't work. To automate color correction for these kinds of challenging images, we need to go further and understand Target Colors which are a part of Curves Adjustment and tweak them according to our image. If you have any questions, suggestions or feedback, do leave them down in the comments below and I will get back to you

Thank you for all your videos. They are wonderful. Now my problem. I am basically a bird photographer. Most of the time I first check my settings in camera and then snap the object. But sometimes it is so sudden that I forget or say instead of checking settings I first take snaps and then check. Anyway I prefer to shoot in raw I can always correct it to some extent. But those shots which I take without checking settings, they are of course under or over. While correcting in Lightroom or Photoshop I cannot get the results exactly the way I want. Can you do some videos on wildlife too. It would be helpful for people like us. By the way I use Canon 7D Mk ii and usually with Canon 400 mm F/5. 6L. Thank you

Hey my friend, I can reproduce the issue you mention at 5: 38. If you add a Curves Adjustment Layer, in the layer the Layer mask thumbnail is by default selected, in the properties panels of CAL the Curves icon. The Auto Options entry in the pop up menu of the pizza box pile icon you may only select if the curves icon of properties tab is active. Just click on the Layer thumbnail in the curves adjustment layer. This de-selects the Layer mask thumbnail and the white out issue does no longer exist; )

5: 32 You have maked a mistake. White color selecting it's not a problem of PS. because you are selected in Mask. And Mask was white. That's why White was selected. I hope i can explain it properly.
Sorry for poor english. Because i am from Bangladesh. My English is not good. Good luck.

I just assume, that you can probably get rid of the problem at 5: 38 if you will not have the mask on Curves 1 layer selected. Couldn't try it, I'm watching episode on iPad.

This one of the best videos on the subject. And always, Pi covers many different images bringing out exceptions and how to deal with it. Well done. Thanks for sharing.

Will you make a tutorial on printing? what do you do to every image to prepare it, to send it to a lab. I watched a few tutorials on this but they had their own printer.

It is not a glitch at 531seconds. you need to highlight the actual levels icon left of the white levels layer in the individual levels layer.
