Thank you! Question: isn't the rays origin much more to the left? The light on the trees is all to the left and the shadow to the right? Shouldn't the light source be entirely in the left part of the image? I mean like DOWN low to the left? IT bothers me that there is light going over dark shadows, it's against the law of physics; -) Where there's light, the stem would be lit.

hi there _ let me tell u at first: your works are awsome
if u are seeing this i just have an idea
if u see these light rays in real life you will notice that they will highligh some dust or fug (idk what to name that) in the high light areas.
bringing some connective brush to that fug and creating it in the high light will be great!

Sir, Please tell us also on which Photoshop version you are giving demonstration before starting, so that it will be easy for everyone to understand. Few students may not have the similar version on which you are explaining. So there could be a confusion in understandingRegards

Thank you for the amazing tutorial! Been following you for some time now. I got a quick question, how do I know where the sun shines on a model for example (light coming from left, but where abouts should I make a light on the person, or object? any tips) Thank you!

I'm a noob but after converting the empty highlight layer to smart object it still won't let me add blur even if I select the entire thing or don't select anything. Any help from people reading the comments would be appreciated.

This just takes the artistry out of photography. What ever happened to going out and actually studying certain places and times of day to get this affect? It's cheating and pure laziness in my eyes.

Photoshop's Radial Blur dialog box should have a Preview mode so you can see where the rays are without having to go back and forth to position the center of the rays.

im getting stuck at step number 3: blur, because it saying the layer is empty. but so is your highlight layer and it's allowing you to move forward

if you want to do this effect in fog, you can do the same effect on the dark part of the image to create shadows

Great technique! Why not create an action for the basic look and then we can tweak it to suit our needs?
