5: 13 the way the multiple colored circles interacted is hard to follow. There there are multiple circles overlapping we don't see any effect. By the time you draw the 4th circle I am baffled as to why the Difference calculation isn't interacting with the colors created from the previous circle's difference calculation. At 5: 27 you don't explain WHY we need to find the darkest area again-- that was a total curveball.

Sincerely,
I'm a stickler for correct white balance and between trying to get it right in camera, and calibrating your monitor sometimes I just want to throw my hands up. At least this does it scientifically and take away most of the guessing. lol Thank you once again!

Btw, in the Curves panel, next to the RGB drop menu there's a box that says Auto. If you hold down the (Option key on windows) and click it, you'll get the same Auto Color Corrections Options window as Unmesh did with his method in this lesson.

Great vid, Unmesh! Is there a similar way to do it straight in lightroom as I did most of the edits there? There's the auto white balance color picker, but from my experience, it's not as accurate as of the one you just did here. Cheers!

Excellent video, I apply your recommendations to scanned film negatives and its perfect.
In few steps I can have a usable photo without color cast.
Thank you.

You are right about showing us how to do this manually. You get way more creative control and sometimes auto white balance doesn't always look pleasing to the artist

PiXimperfect Seems these have to be JPG images this would not work as well with Raw? Appreciate helping understand what going on with these tools.

I remember back in the day using a threshold layer to find those same points which I think was faster and easier. Thanks for the video.

You can also use a Threshold layer to find the dark and light points! The gray point works the same, just replace Curves with Threshold.
