Photoshop Crashed Worldwide: Fix It Before You're Next! - Frozen Splash Screen

Fix the recent issue where Photoshop can't open, freezes on the splash screen, uses all of RAM trying to open, and then crashes! This unusual bug is not letting Photoshop, Photoshop Beta, or Adobe Illustrator open at all, and going back a version or even uninstalling and reinstalling doesn't fix the issue. The solution is very unique and surprising and is essential to apply to prevent future crashes.

i had to completely uninstall adobe cloud 2 days ago because for the last 3 months using lightroom was slow and made my macbook pro heat up like crazy only by scrolling in the library module.
after 5 or 6 mods on exposure and basic sliders, i had to wait 3 to 10 seconds before i could see what i did to the image.
after uninstalling my macbook pro is faster in everything, before in lightroom all my 16gb ram was used up in the 4-5 operations i did, now even with multiple masks, it never takes the whole memory, i always have 4 to 6 gb of free ram and it doesn't heat up anymore.
i discovered the problem by looking in system monitor and adobe cloud related operations were being done with the cpu and the ram in the background all the time even if everything was turned off.
it was not connecting to the internet so it wasn't cloud related operations.
i find my macbook pro twice as fast as it was before, like i was used to. i knew it was slower, at first i thought lightroom just needed a newer mac but now i think i am fine for a couple of years with my mbp 16 2019 with 16gb of ram

Me using an older Captain Jack Sparrow-version narrowly avoided the outage. This is the downside of the suite model, if one component fails, the entire CC suite goes down along with it, a major tradeoff to the seamless compatibility it offers.
Additionally, when you're upgrading to a newer version, or installing the beta, it's better to do a completely clean installation over again, or in the case of a beta, install it on a separate virtual machine, or a secondary device entirely. These applications generally share the same component, if one gets replaced, corrupted, or deleted, the older install won't be able to run too.

I've never, ever, had any version of Photoshop crash on me. Acrobat Pro, on the other hand, seems to hang a lot, which is why I switched over to Nitro. Personally I think Photoshop 2019 was the last, best version; the newer ones were a bit buggy at times and considering Adobe's debacle recently over their TOS I can see why some switched back to 2019 or even CS6; some even going over to their competitors like Affinity. Either way, my advice is always the same: be careful with Beta releases; test them if you must, but don't replaced older versions until the stable version has released

I absolutely love your videos. Especially your teaching style. Thanks for everything you do.
I just wish that I haven't lost faith in Adobe producing products I trust with features I need. Too much cloud focus, I cannot use many of the features of Adobe / PS and Lightroom in photo competitions. And of course cycling to I can't use the features so I don't want to pay a monthly or yearly subscription for more stuff I'll never use... Sigh.. too bad it's the bestgame in town for what I need or I'd jump ship to something like affinity...
Rant over.. I love your videos

Interesting, my photoshop beta 25.12 has not had any problem so far. However, there is one irritating issue with Creative Cloud: Even though I have installed an update (Beta 25.12 currently), Creative Cloud keeps telling me I need to update to 25.12. It seems to ignore/misread the current version number. After an update I'm fine until I reboot, and then it comes back to tell me to update again. Given the current issue, I'm just going to ignore this until a newer update shows up.
My question: Is there a fix for this update bug in creative cloud

Mine starts fine, but the remove tool and the masks in ACR do not work (yet the work perfectly in LrC).
I've been in touch with Ps support and tried a few things - nothing is helping! I am SO pissed off. I have had to work through two jobs with this major disruption to my workflow so far and it is killing me. Yet there's no suggestion that I might get a refund on part of my subscription cost.
I guess I'll try this Beta removal approach - nothing to loose at this point.

haha I ran into this issue as soon as the update was release. Thought I was doing something wrong. Installed, uninstalled, checked the box to save and also not to save preferences and still couldn't get it to work. I even tried installing prior versions of photoshop and still couldn't get it to work. Finally I just went into my library and deleted anything to do with photoshop in application support and in preferences and reinstalled and it finally worked.

While I haven't tried the latest version (thankfully) I might just roll back to 25.9.1 and wait this one out. Luckily I do most of my photo editing work in LR Classic anyway.
That being said, I st opped using the Beta versions because they were causing issues with LR Classic, and mainly used it briefly to try out some of the new object removal tools, but since those are now pretty much baked into PS, I just use the (public) Release versions moving forward.

Former software analyst here. Now you see why to never, ever install beta's from companies like Adobe. They have too many run-of-the-mill employees who have little talent or attention to detail. Companies like Adobe are all about their financials and marketing to drive maximization of profit.
FYI, if it wasn't for this video, I wasn't aware there was a showstopper bug with PS. No betas. Ever.

Ok, just worked for me but did anyone take a second to realize that a software you pay for stopped working because of a beta install Was this a way to force everyone with the beta to uninstall it Weird way to go about it and not have some sort of mass messaging to let everyone know so they could resolve the issue quickly. I found out from someone who doesnt work for Adobe. Classic right here.

Hey thanks for the update. Adobe technical helped me solve this. He Uninstalled everything amd reinstalled old version including beta and everything works fine. Even the masking is not working properly. In raw when you click on select background it selects the whole pic including the subject. Even in photoshop when u click subject the marching ants don't select the subject properly

Another example that pirated software is more reliable than, and that all the bloatware protections from original software only damages the paying customers. I had an issue with a frozen splash screen a few days ago and when I finally got to open Photoshop, all my brushes were gone! I still could not recover all the renaming and reordering I did to my brushes. Adobe is really shitty.

Man! I needed you two days ago! BOTH AI and PSD were down for me... not other Adobe apps. Eventually, a tech support call remotely installed the Cleaner app for me and it worked. I didn't have any Beta apps installed so i guess I wound up on the right path anyway... as 12 hours of panic. The good news was that most of my settings, actions, fonts were still in place!

This has been a nightmare. I followed Adobe’s advice and uninstalled the cloud. Now I have to reinstall everything. I had no idea the problem was so pervasive. I wish I had seen your video earlier. Thanks Adobe. Ironically, last week they sent me a letter saying my monthly fees are going up. Maybe they need the extra money for quality control.

I had another problem with not sending the arw file for editing for lr to ps. Tryed everything instaling deinstalig removing beta reseting preferences, and they both worked very lagging. 78 gb ram and Grafik card 11 gb ram. My fix for all was formating the C. Now no lag no bugs . And the only one that was working fine was the beta for me.

This is why cloud based apps are a no go especially for doing something proficient like editing photos, video, writing music noration (Sibeliis by AVID) or music recording/production. I left Adobe years ago and especially with the recent changes, no creator who uses it for a living should be using it

ah if you plebs were using a real operating system, it would be dead easy to uninstall everything Adobe...on Debian GNU/Linux it'd be:
dpkg --purge packagename...all gone, including config files. No shitty registry to deal with...no shitty preference files in a gazillion locations to deal with...

I experienced this crash. Failure to launch Photoshop and the beta version. I uninstalled several times. Restarted laptop. Chose the prompt delete preferences. All to no avail. Then I got on an Adobe chat session. And yes, it was Adobe Setup Corruption. Adobe agent did a clean reinstall of Adobe Setup.

A regular day in the life of an Adobe user: open software, run into issue, waste time in adobe community, reset preferences, update, uninstall, reinstall, update graphics driver, roll back graphics driver, try the beta, try the stable, realize your day is over and you haven't gotten any work done.
