Sixteen well spent minutes watching this. The VERY important tip I needed was Opening a file from ACR as Open as Object. I agree that Adobe should just get rid of the Delete Cropped Pixels checkbox. The ONLY time I might not care about cropped pixels is when exporting as jpeg. And, you don't need the checkbox for that. Your videos are always a pleasure to watch, even when they go beyond my photo-centric use of Photoshop. There are more than a few times when I have gone beyond the photography basic functions and have gone back to rewatch one or another of your videos.

Great video. But let me tell you. I hate autosave. In my workflow, there are lots of times when I need variations of something I have done before then I just open the old file, do the changes and then save as a new file for a variation, keeping the old one intact. With autosave I would destroy the previously aproved work and keep only the variation.
Of course I could just copy the file before or go to hystory and create a new document from current state (which some times I do) but for my workflow it usually is quicker to do it like this.

Regarding Delete Cropped Pixels...I often work with backdrops that don't extend all the way to the edge of my frame. Sometimes, I'm able to crop in tight enough that most of the non-backdrop background is removed. Then, when using either generative or content-aware fill to replace those parts, if I haven't deleted the cropped pixels, information from them leaks into the part I'm trying to replace. I prefer for that extraneous information to actually be deleted.
There's a use case for every feature.

I respect you so much Unmesh. Love you. You are the great one and only in Photoshop. I can't tell how much your videos has taught me. But honestly I am still trying to figure compositing for my furniture in some empty room background from stock photos. If you please find a time to make tutorial like that It will be so much amazing.

Unmesh, I've been using Photoshop professionally for over 20 years. I like to think I know my way around a pixel. But like everyone else, I only know what I use and I'm not always aware of what's outside of the deep, deep rut that is my well-worn workflow. You, my friend, are a master of this craft and of teaching it.

I guess my question then is why are some tools only able to work on 8-bit images then I run into this sometimes (at least, I used to, haven't tried lately so maybe those has been adjusted to work with 16-bit images, but it was a thing that would occasionally pop up from time to time with some tools).

These are definitely amazing tips. I've picked up a lot of these through my career, but it's good to see them presented, and learn even more. Top 100% most important take away, set up Autosave and check for that asterisk often. More important than knowing how to click the icon to start Photoshop.

Is there an advantage to creating a merged layer before converting it to a Smart object rather than just converting the background layer to a Smart object
I thought the whole point of making it a smart object was to preserve the original and make it non-destructive.

14:00 please, don't do that, I need that option that's a very helpful option if you want to crop several layers at once at certain size and sometimes I use it to reduce the file size(mb and gb) without reducing the document size(width, hight and resolution)

Hello Umnesh , what a great and informative video, thank you for the amazing tips.
I have always wanted to know how to package a PSD file to share it with someone else, with all the text and elements intact.
Can you please guide us on how to do it

Unmesh, great video. I am really enjoying your entire membership Photoshop education program. I have learned a lot so far. Are there any videos with recommendations for file handling ie: best settings for importing and exporting photos.

These are very helpful tips; thank you. On a footnote, I have never had an issue running either the regular or beta Photoshop versions on my i9 - 128 GB RAM workstation. I do like taking advantage of new coming features.

I only didn't know about the ctrl shift v. I'm used to select the layer and another like solid color, then when I pasted the layer was at the same position. The shortcut is far more simple

If I need a new document with the same size, I use CTRLA (Select All) and CTRLC (Copy). I create a new document in Photoshop, it will automatically match the size of the copied content.
