I'm a little bit confused. Once I was criticized for a proposal of vector masks in ACR/Lightroom. I received responses that the purpose of ACR /Lr is not bitmap-level editing. Now, I observe that ACR/Lr introduces many tools working on bitmap level: denoise, selections of sky/background/objects, removal tool etc. It collides with mentioned responses. ACR/Lr becomes step by step alternative for Photoshop. limited to the RAW files only.
Does anybody tell what why Adobe duplicates functionality of Photoshop in ACR/Lr Will we expect that in 2-3 years, ACR/Lr functionality will become a super - Photoshop

Great video! I use all of these, so this was very useful to me. I do get better results than Umesh got here using Image > Image Size to resize/upscale and sharpen my cropped images, because I'm doing this with images that were higher res to begin with. (His image was only 3 MB; too low). Say I cropped in 50% of my camera Raw file with aspect ratio locked to zoom in to a wildlife subject. Use the settings he used, except enter the original pixel width and height of your camera Raw file. In that case PS does a beautiful job upscaling in seconds. It sharpens but doesn't over-sharpen.

It's true that AI is great, but 80% is great and the other 20% still needs to be completed by humans. I've also used Evoto, and there are many good things, but I've experienced the collapse of the basic framework when it's eroded by AI. It's like if you get your face molded at a plastic surgery clinic, it's pretty, but it's not natural, and once you get your face molded, you can't turn your naturalness back. It's a double-edged sword, and if you abuse it, it's toxic

You make some important points. Ultimately, the question is whether you’re most concerned about the results vs the process getting there.
Professionals demand improved productivity to improve their business. And amateurs benefit as the new technologies shorten their learning curves. And save time.
And, ultimately, make the post processing experience fun’.
Not to mention, that it enables Adobe to sell more subscriptions.

As an animator, I think AI is useful and obviously very powerful, but there truly is something missing when you don't do the job yourself. You learn so much from taking the time to perfect your project, and come up with ideas along the way. Some of my best ideas have come during the editing/tinkering process. When you fix everything with a click of a button, your brain stays disengaged. Yeah it saves time, but you lose something.i

I find Topaz Gigapixel horrible. Like much more Adobe Photoshop because it respects the image. Gigapixels makes parts of the image sharp then others are soft because of NR. Very inconsistent. If you give it a quick look it might surprise you, but once you dive into the image you see how bad Topaz is. Lightroom upresize and Adobe Zoom all the way for me.

For some reason Tool #4 - DeNoise differs in Camera Raw (CR) when you open the image initially and when you open CR from within Photoshop. When you open CR from Photoshop, neither of the checkboxes (Denoise, Raw Details, Super Resolution) is showing. So I guess Adobe says that we should do denoise before anything else.

Another great video.
I was thinking about the upscale options.
I know that the AI generative fill tends to be a lower resolution. If you save the generated layer as a separate image, shouldn't you be able to use the upscale process to increase resolution and then import of back into your other image

FYI: There is a new bug in Lightroom in Details panel. RAW Images are now defaulting to strong Luminance, and even color noise adjustments, even for images shot at ISO 64. It softens the images. This is a fairly new issue, and I have a call into Adobe to speak with upper tier support.

Maybe is good idea to test some other upscalers except topaz as the pricing is a bit too high $199 $99 for renewal yearly is a bit to much. I am just saying mabe there are more affortable upscalers out there that do the same job Other than that this was an amazing video!

I was on a special tour of a Marine Corps air base to honor a 102 year old World War Two,Korean War, and Viet Nam Combat Pilot. The reflection remove tool came in very useful for removing reflection while capturing images on the flight line.

Thanks for the very helpful videos!
I am using PS version 26.4 on my Windows PC.
I cannot find Denoise in the Detail pulldown menu of Camera Raw Filters.
Is denoise only available for the Mac version
Thanks!

I stopped using the Jack sparrow version of Photoshop just this month. Having a MacBook Pro with a top spec M2 Max I see that Photoshop takes an eternity to launch and close, is this a common thing and how could I fix it

Is there a quick way to match color adjustments for 12 images at all once that are not the same quality, so all the photos have the same quality in color Do you have a video covering this issue.

The problem is that Adobe is replacing standard tools with AI tools an is starting to charge for AI use. Imagine being in the middle of a project and you're suddenly out of AI credits.

Is content-aware fill even AI I thought it was an older feature, it's fast and doesn't use generative credits. It can often be better than generative crop expand in how it works.
