-You don't have to be a professional athlete to look like one, you just have to train like one. - - Dude if you train (& eat) like a professional athlete. You may as well be a professional athlete. In order to train like a professional athlete you're going to need to spend THE MAJORITY of your time dedicated to your chosen art/sport/competition, the only thing separating them from a usual person is the ability to be able to spend that time (and not have a regular job) or not wanting to compete I guess. If you have the time to spend training like a professional you're clearly very rich already OR you're earning money from fitness - which is what makes it a profession.

-TheRunAway46 thats funny because I have been in and out of boxing/kickboxing gyms & camps for 20+years I have never seen anyone do this. he is insinuating that this is how boxers train their core and its not! yes your using your core when you shadowbox do bag/padwork & spar I have never seen shadowboxing with a giant rubberband called ab work if this is just for the -average joe- then great. point of fact is he's saying that that boxers train their core in this fashion and I'm saying not so.

Actually ''rubber'' bands exercises was many years a go executed in the workout program of all karateka's in Japan. The routine with rubber bands 'zukkis' or kick's is very popular. You can create alone manu of them just with rotational moves of the hips and the shoulder gurdle. Aductor -Abductor moves. thats a workout you can get everywhere with you in travel.

-cruiserweight190 - what Jeff is doing is giving you an alternative method to work your core while you practice some punches. Is this how every fighter trains? Probably not, but as someone with over 10 years invested in martial arts training, I think this is definitely a new way to practice and get a good ab workout at the same time. Lighten up.

Hi Jeff! -
My name is Kent, I am 55 years old and I am a big fan of your training principles. I exercise three times a week, and the results are amazing after just three months of training. I have a question though. why is there no training for calves in athleanX? -
All the best / / Kenta from SWEDEN.

Sorry but this is NOT how boxers train their abs! if you don't get on the floor/slantboard /or swiss ball and do the traditional abdominal exercises plus the use of the medicine ball your not going to be able to take punches, kicks etc to the body simple as that.

you should have pointed out that it's quite important to breathe out every time you punch(or cover. i know it's absolut basic stuff. but you always got some guys training without proper breathing and the heads getting more and more red every second; )
