The pullup is, without a doubt, the king of the upper body exercises. It can help you to build mass on the lats and is easy to perform anywhere, even if you don't have access to a pullup bar. Well, the pull up exercise just got harder! In this pullup challenge, I show you a pull up variation that will require you have equal parts strength and muscle endurance to complete. The 2 minute pullup is one intense variation that is going to have you laughing at all the so-called pullup records out there after attempting just one. To perform the 2 minute pullup challenge you simply perform just one rep of a classic pull up exercise. The catch is that it has to take you 1 minute to pull yourself up to the bar (finishing with your chin over the bar) and then 1 minute to slowly lower yourself down. If you can't complete the rep in one minute, see how long it does take you to do it. If, for instance, you can do it in 30 seconds. then see if you can lower in the same amount of time. After you get stronger, you'll be able to slowly increase the time you can hold on each portion of the lift over time. You can put this pullup variation into any pull up workout. First time I saw this particular movement was when I was a CO. An inmate would start from dead-hang position and gradually ascend like a machine, and then descend at the same snail pace. He would do the same with hand-stands starting from a push-up position, as well as pistol squats. At times, for fun, I would challenge him to 60 second push-ups or 3 minute burpee contest. He smoked me every time. Thanks for the reminder and the challenge, I will give it a try today and see how horribly I fail!

I cant even do one regular pull up yet. But I have my dad putting me through the morning routine they had him do in the air force. Set of 10 pushups by call. He say down andI hold the down pushups position and I cant push up till he says up. The time between each set is different. That wears you the hell out. I should have joined the military

I am being honest I have developed these gnarly catalyst and they really put pressure when I grab the pullup bar along with my weight that is why I stopped. If I just stuck it up and do my strict pull ups it ends up being 16. Maybe 22 if I go fast with no control.

That's challenging but it's better to do many reps of slow slow endurance full rom and u'll get endurance that's a lot of isometric unless you're extremely gradual which doesnt happen but u get hold at different points in motions

Stop belly aching and looking for instant gratification! I-m 61 and am close to meeting the Challenge. By the way a year ago I could do no more the 5 clean pull ups now I-m up to 20! Keep working at it you-ll get there!

If I tried this at the gym some asshole would probably secretly videotape me and put me on some -fitness fails- compilation where another asshole is asking why it's taking me so long to do a pullup

Wouldnt it be better to train for this by doing a shorter rep on the way up and max your eccentric on the way down until you get the minute there then go for the minute on the way up?
