Follow A-X on instagram - If you want to build incredible strength you better stop overlooking the smaller but no less important muscles in your workouts. In this video, I show you how not paying attention to the strength in your wrists, hands and forearms could be preventing you from making the gains you are seeking in the gym. I show you ways to incorporate extra work for these weak areas into muscle groups and exercises that you are already performing. If you had to spend hours extra in the gym each week to try and fix these, you likely never would. As a result, you would never be as strong as you should be. That said, if you are training your chest you likely are doing pushups at some point. Whether you are doing them as a finishing exercise or one of the main exercises in your chest workout there is a way to change them to make them more effective for your weak wrists or hands. Simply perform them as finger tip pushups if you need to increase your hand strength or as knuckle pushups if you want to increase the strength of your wrists. Likewise on back training day you can extend a regular pullup beyond failure to get more work for your wrists and forearms. Simply hang from the bar on your very last rep for as long as you can. You will feel the burn travel through your hands and forearms as you work to increase your muscular endurance and improve your grip for the bigger exercises. All of these benefits apply to other muscle groups as well. We cover the extended wrist position during dumbbell laterals and the tweak that you can make to deadlifts (not using straps) that will all help to increase your hand and grip strength without compromising the amount of time that you have to spend training each week. The ATHLEAN-X Training System, found at is a program used by top professional athletes that cannot afford to overlook anything in their training. They get paid to be strong, fast and powerful. If you want to train like an athlete you can find start training with the same workouts and meal plans that they do today

Jeff great video as always; one point if someone is going to do press-ups on their knuckles; this should be done on the 2nd and 3rd digit knuckles; this is because these knuckle joints are stronger and direct any forces through the ulna and radius bones; the forth and fifth knuckles invariably break or fracture when punching and in the uk are commonly known as boxers fractures/ breaks (yes i know this video is about training not boxing) doing press-ups on the incorrect knuckles could technically also teach incorrect punching technique especially to any boxers or martial artists who see your videos; again great video as always; ps i hope this helps as my comments are made from 40+ years of martial arts and boxing training. Keep the videos coming -

Dear skinnies, i advise you to pushup while carrying ur schoolbag with how much heavy you want it to be. And also sleep early because sleeping late or don't have much sleeping will shrink ur muscles smaller! Don't pushup alot or your shoulder might be damage. I experienced these few years ago and now i'm muscular. Before doing your exercise building, make sure to eat some calcium healthy foods and drink some water!

My left hand is extremely weak since I fractured it almost 7 years ago. It is actually smaller than my right and also when I try to do some form of exercise I feel an imbalance of sort - for e. g. I can do about 10 right-handed pullups by itself, but tire out around 8 when attempting to do with both hands (sometimes can reach 10 sometimes can't); and of course I can't do single left-handed pull-ups at all: (

I got up and went back down to the kitchen to lock up and get my gear, then I went to the bathroom. I decided to watch the television in my room, or listen to the radio, and get to sleep early so I could be up just after dawn to catch a wasp for the Factory.

Only time I-ve ever found less than perfect form advice from Jeff; knuckle pushups should be done on the knuckles of the pointer finger and middle finger (not as shown. This makes a straight line of force from knuckles to elbow. Same principle as in punching.

Excellent tips as usual -, do you have any video on still training through medial epicondylitis (golfers/tennis) elbow tendonitis? I used to love pull-ups and deadlifts, but my grip now fails. Many thanks Jeff! --

Part 1: grip strength push-up? I play music so I never put my knuckles on the floor. I hold my dumbells on the ground doing my reps. Best of both. Wrists straight, but still strengthening the grip. Try it.
