If you struggle to stay consistent with your workouts then you need to watch this video. I will show you four steps that you can do to learn how to get more consistent with your workout routine. This is incredibly important because no results can be either obtained or kept without a dedication to remaining consistent with working out. To start, it is important to describe the two types of consistency that are needed in your workouts. The first is voluntary. This means all of the decisions you make to consciously start following and sticking to your workout plan. The second is involuntary consistency. This is out of your control unfortunately, and at the mercy of your health and requires that you stay injury free in your workouts. That said, your involuntary consistency depends on the quality and soundness of the program that you are following or the person you are trusting to give you workout advice. Remember, consistently following bad advice will give you consistently bad results. So it is important to understand that being steady with your training without a solid plan is not going to cut it. As for the voluntary decision to get on track with your training, you will need to pay attention to four things if you want to succeed long term. First, you must stop setting goals. I know this is contrary to the advice you have likely been given or heard from many others. Setting specific goals is just as bad. The problem with goals is that they describing the -what- of where you are trying to get to. They are the daydreams of what you would like to be or accomplish without answering the real question of -why- you want to achieve them. Without answering the question of why you are fighting to achieve a certain goal you will likely fall off track during the process. I made a video on this exact process as well and linked it in the video for your easy reference. Back to this topic however, you next need to learn how to start scheduling your priorities rather than prioritizing your existing schedule. The most successful people in the world do this all the time. If there is something that matters to them, they make the time for it they don-t hope they-ll have enough time for it. Next, you will have to stop attaching emotional feelings towards your progress. This is the fastest way to make the process something other than just a process. Now you not only stand a better chance to stop on the way to progress but you will be too hard on yourself in the event that you do. This will make it very difficult for you to get back on track and make gains, even in the face of the fact that perfection is not needed to see great results. Finally, no matter what you do, you have to simplify your options if you want to make progress. Paralysis by analysis is the bane of every successful person. Find someone that you trust and adopt their methods wholeheartedly. As you watch your physique transform before your eyes, you will know that your efforts combined with your decision to follow a smart training plan will the the key to your success. Keep it going and never lose sight of the process along the way. You are an inspiration to many. Especially to me. Your guidance, motivation and endurance has been a great addition and helped me implement it into my life. My body has transformed as well as my entire being. I've become a person that I like, and not superficially. Yes, I look very good physically, however my mind, body and spirit are all one now. And I've found humility, progression, knowledge, and strength. My character is one of honor and pride. I must say thank you to Jeff Cavalier for helping me start and especially for helping me to continue. Teaching me about consistentcy and him always being there with great workouts and words of wisdom. Jeff, you are fantastic at what you do and you are one hell of a coach! So, thank you. - Jessica, CT

Thank you for the tough talk. Great for a fellow keyboardist,
Btw, the video about forearms is useful for piano playing, too. Video idea?
Good posture for musicians? At the piano, playing the violin, holding a trumpet? :-)
A lot of pianists with tendonitis, or back issues are just out of shape, and don't know it.
Please keep up the good work.
The videos for beginners/out-of-shape starters are appreciated:
Everything 101: correct pushups, stretching everyday, basic leg raises for glutes, from 0-5 pull-ups in 22 days, nutrition, failure > number of reps.
Very helpful, motivating, and enlightening.
Thank you, thank you, thanks, Mr. Cavaliere.

1 - 2: 35 That was me, for a long while I knew what I wanted to get, but was never sure why. Was I doing it for me or for others? Now I know why I'm (trying) to do it.
3 - 5: 40 That's my biggest hurdle, I've just gone and done that again recently. I was consistent for about 3 months, then we had some cold weather and it -too cold to go out- and I didn't go for about a month, then I was like -I've blown it, gotta start again-
4 - 6: 25 - Yep did that. Sure there's lots of great advice out there, but you get swamped in the ideas and spend too much time 'researching so you get it right- then someone said to me - -you just need to start doing something-

I can clearly understand what you are talking about. Exercise training is not easy even I committed to months and even 2 years of regular jogging I eventually lost motivation and consistency and now after months of atscuses I said enough is enough I want to be more consistent then I ever have been. So I am back into it looking for a routine where I would keep on training. Thank you for your advice. Yes! Goals seems to me like a limited thing and is irrelevant to consistency. You really determined from within to keep going that-s why I see your point! You are correct!

I think workout is about feelings, cause I feel good while and about 1 hour after workout. Yes, I feel muscle soreness and bad after this, but I try not to think about it and concentrate on good feelings. It's also feeling of adventure, of fun, and for some reason it doesn't disappear after 1. 5 years of training. Though I do calisthenics, may be weightlifting and bodybuilding is really boring, but I doubt it.

Love this video! I'm helping my nephew train to lose fat and build muscle and every day I tell him things he doesn't want to hear but it lights a fire under his ass and helps motivate him after he's done being butthurt about it lol. I get him to watch your videos when he will and I give him the same advice you give me on everything.

My training is all over the place because I-m unable to have a set time to work out due to work hours being different all the time.
The only way I can guarantee a set time is to go early in the morning 5/6am it-s so hard for me to get up that early but I guess it-s time for a change. Time to get shit done.

I'm a teenage girl and I gotta say out of all the trainers I've watched you are the most inspiring. You get to the point, get into the science behind things, and your workouts are challenging but effective. I've done your 6 min ab workout and I've never felt better. keep it up --

I think I-m struggling with the discipline and consistent like you said. Plus the many options. So I appreciate videos like this cause I kept searching how to start a work out and it wasn-t the workout to start but the initial process. Like what days and how consistent to be.
