s of new exercises in one program - Can you do 10 pushups in one minute? Great. Now can you do that ten times in a row? Before you think to yourself that this sounds too easy, understand that we-re going to make it a challenge by manipulating the way you do pushups. In this push up challenge you will have to do increasingly difficult versions of the push up and see if you can complete all 100 in 10 minutes. After a quick warmup, it is time to get to the action. Each of the pushup variations you do are going to be performed with a steady cadence until all 10 reps are completed. At this point, you will be able to rest for however much time remains in your one minute period. For instance, if it takes you 25 seconds to do the ten reps of pushups, then you will earn 35 seconds of rest before you need to do the next pushup variation. Keep a running stopwatch and be sure to start each new pushup at the top of the minute. You must complete the final 40 second hover hold without touching in order to have successfully completed this challenge. Here are the exercises in order. Standard Pushups - 10 reps Prowler Pushups - 10 reps Archer Pushups - 10 reps Posted Push Ups - 5 eps each arm Rolling Plyo Push Ups - 10 reps Hannibal Pushups - 10 reps Foot Plant Pushups - 10 reps Cliffhanger Pushups - 10 reps Hand Plant Push Ups - 10 reps Standard Pushups - 5 reps (20 second hold) 5 reps (40 second hold) Don-t let the simplicity of this chest workout challenge fool you. The later pushups will catch up to you quickly if you don-t pace yourself during the earlier rounds. Do the challenge and see if you make it all the way to the end. Make sure to share this with a friend and dare them to try it as well. If you are really bold, make a video of you doing the 100 pushup challenge and post it here on youtube. For a complete workout program that challenges your chest with more than just pushups, be sure to head to and get the ATHLEAN-X Training System. Take your training to the next level by following a program that progressively challenges your muscles with harder and harder exercise variations at just the right time. Never get stuck in a workout rut again, doing the same stuff over and over and expecting new results

I am so frustrated with pushups right now. I don-t know why but the most I-ve ever been able to do is around 8 and I was struggling. The pushups were very slow. I-ve tried correcting my form and everything and nothing is working. I-m not that overweight. I-m about 250 pounds but I-m 6- 1- and my body fat percentage is around 25%. I-m pretty fit with other strength training drill just not pushups or pull-ups. The only way I can crank a decent amount of pushups is if I-m on a good incline. I feel like I-m trying to bench 400 pounds when I try to do a real pushup. It sucks because I cannot pass the 400 challenge. The other 3 exercises are fine, I was able to do 60 reps for squats, sit-ups, inverted rows, but for pushups I only managed 4.

Everybody bragging about doin 100 pushups in 2-4 minutes. NO YOU DONT. A well executed pushup takes about 3 seconds as you can see at the 48second mark in this video. 100 pushups equals to 300sec work = 5minutes work without rest. The ONLY ones that have the right to brag here on this video are people who can do 100 well executed pushups in a row. I guess nobody haha. Try this 100pushups workout: 30sec work 10pushups - 30sec rest. I promise you you will have the sickest pump ever and even your lats will hurt. Peace guys.

I tried something similar based on this with Pull ups: 1 min per round, rest remaining time. 10x full range 10x regular 10x wide grip right close left 10x wide grip left 10x close grip 10 x chin up (not a pull up I know) 10x front handles 10x regular 10x close grip 10 front handles. I confess I couldn't make it to 10 in the 5th round and stopped after the 8th with just 2 reps: p
Perhaps you could give us some more variations Jeff? I ran out of ideas towards the latter rounds.

Hey Jeff, I just finished doing this. I modified the hand and feet plant pushups as I'm not quite strong enough or coordinated to do those yet. Instead I did Plyo Pushups but with my feet coming off the ground as well, and I did Superman pushups, but only my hands came up. I only did Superman pushups because it was the closest thing I could do. Also I beat you at something during this workout. I sweated more than you -

I finish my routine with press ups sit ups and leg raise. I started with 10 now do 50. I have arthritis of the spine I have built this up over 2 years legs raise added this week. I suffer very little pain the odd twinge. At my worst I could not walk stand up or sit. My gyms mantra -If it dose not challenge you it won't change you-

Jeff I really appreciate the information you've been sharing, it really helps me as some who tries to keep active and healthy. However I'd like to know what are some good chest/upper body exercises specifically for costochondritis, that can be done at home or anywhere convenient, not only at a gym? Thank you once more.
