My Near Death Experience! (Why Life Is So Valuable) Lyndsie: This is so real Brian! Thank you so much for touching on this subject. This past summer on June 17th I was with my sister around town running errands and I get a text from my grandma (retired chief of communications at the local sheriffs office) asking me if I knew who the 16 year old girl who rolled her truck and died on the same county road I live on from my school was. It had happened a few hours before and I figured that if I was close with the person I would've found out sooner. So I told her I didn't know and she called some connections she had because they hadn't released the name yet and my very very very close friends name pops up on my phone from my grandma and literally 5 minutes later another close friend called me and said that our friend had died. She was only 16 years old and about to turn 17 the next month. It's so crazy because you hear about things like that happening on the news all the time but you never think it could happen to you or a friend.

I was in an airplane that dropped 300 feet in 3 seconds. Food carts tipping over, bags flying out of the overhead compartment, complete chaos. Although now I know what weightlessness feels like I hate flying. Everyone was screaming, crying holding their heads into their laps. I actually saw people KISSING THE GROUND when we got off the plane. I've also almost been mauled by a bear, run over 3 times which cycling, drowned in a strong current in the Caribbean, and had a wheeling motor cyclist almost fly through my windshield. Almost forgot almost run over by drunk driver which crossing the street at 3am. Stay safe everyone, good health changes everything.

I still remember being about 7 or 8 and having a dream that I got knifed in the chest and woke up with a pain in my chest. That was freaky (probably just sleeping on a bunched up bit of bed sheet, but still. Slightly off-topic but the freakiest thing since was having a nightmare that we were putting our eldest in the car and then some guy came up and started cutting his arms with a knife. We'd both woken up at about the same time but I didn't say anything at the time but in the morning I told my wife and she'd had EXACTLY the same nightmare that night.

I dreamt someone busted into my room, came walking straight towards me, and I somehow knew they had slaughtered my family before this, and I had no time to say anything before they slit my throat with a chainsaw. I felt the burning sting of the blade, the blood pouring down my clothes, my breathing stopping and the same thing about the darkness coming over you. It was too real, definitely made me think of how billions of animals go through this every year. Luckily for me it was just a dream, for them. not so much. All life is precious.

It's weird and amazing at the same time how fear can motivate us do or don't do certain things. Especially fear of death. If you die you feel like you are going to lose everything which in a way is right, as we only have one life to live and when it stops, we disappear. You're just another person who dies. Someone's going to care for a little while, someone will remember you, but at the very bottom you cease existing. And for a human being, existing is the biggest of all.

hey man I have a similar history with downhill skating. I was at an organized longboard race here in NY and during the warm up runs a dude slid out on a turn (road was patchy with wet spots) and the dude straight up nailed his back into a mailbox. He broke his spine and is now paralyzed from the waist down.
needless to say, always scout out a road before you bomb down it. this idea carries over to many parts of life.
thanks for sharing the story brian it was visceral

It scares me how fleeting and fragile life is. On Valentine's Day 2014 my 14 yo son was hit by a car trying to get on the school bus. The bus driver had failed to activate the flashers. He died in my arms in front of our home. Something so simple as flashing lights caused his death. Sometimes it's not the choices you make, you must also consider what other people are doing. We trust too much sometimes.

Great video! In 2014 I lay in the hospital with pneumonia was was told they were testing me to see if I was septic or not. It was the scariest moment of my life and I seriously thought I was going to die. It was actually that moment that I decided to turn my life around and start my weightloss journey.

loved hearing your perspective on this subject, I find a lot of people don't really talk about death and how real it can be. I work in a hospital and I've seen a lot tragic things that I'll never forget. gotta appreciate life while you have it, cause it really can be taken away at any time!

+Brian Turner for me I am in the latter for sure. Wasting time instead of using it. How did you find people, that like you, are not into drinking? I am always down to hang out and do things, however, people around me always want to hang out at the bar or party and get drunk.
