BODYBUILDING vs POWERLIFTING Does Bodybuilding Make You Weak? mies vailla nykyisyyttä: The myth of powerlifting = strength needs to die before more young men wreck their backs for life with hillbilly lifts. Strength is movement specific and nobody is ever weak for their size because there is no scientific criteria to determine how much someone should lift while looking like X. Some people have naturally aesthetic bone structure and muscle shape and we associate them with strength while some disgusting fat slob might have good genetics for some types of lifting. Strength is highly movement specific and that's why powerlifters get destroyed by arm wrestlers half their size. I may be exaggerating a bit but the principle is correct. Bodybuilders get to choose which lifts they excell in while powerlifting competitors need to focus on a couple arbitrarily chosen lifts where they use maximum leverage and technique to get green lights and to move the bar as little as is allowed. It's not a competition of who is strongest but who can get the green lights the best. The truest way to test strength would be to plug the athletes into a machine that measured the power of their muscular contractions.

You are at a lighter bodyweight & not well practised/peaked for maximal lifting as it pertains to the big 3. If the sum of the parts/muscles that make up the lifts improve, then the actual lifts themselves will improve once you acclimate yourself back to powerlifting.

which is why i have been doing powerbuilding lately. yeah i don't make the progress that i would've with strict power-lifting but I also don't sacrifice too much in terms of strength. i can still have the ego of lifting heavy while looking somewhat aesthetic af haha

Do you think you'll get back to powerlifting again mate, or is it all bb now ( it sure must be more flexible and versatile with the latter) Seems like bodybuilding fits you more, like literally, Mr. fit; )But most important question. :Where's Luca, Maaatttt?

yes you are weak, in ocmparation with NAvy SEals, navy seals are not buffed like most of your low iq people bodybuilders are more muscled but not stronger, most of higher up officers are lean and not buff, yet stronger than you.

Could you build big arms by only train compound exercises? I the 5x5 programme I follow I mainly do only deadlifts, squats, benchpress, shoulder press and some bodyweight exercises like pull ups and push ups
reply

It doesnt but still powerlifting makes you much stronger faster and you get denser muscles. Plus training for strenght makes you perfect your form and makes it easier for guys to train for hypertrophy later on easily
