What you're basically doing is a rear delt row, which isn't bad at all, but if you're doing face pulls because of the external rotation element the rope attachment allows for much better ROM when it comes to external rotation.

curious about your thoughts on the lat pulls? I've seen many variations and yours with the hip movement. Is there a specific best way to do them or whatever feels better for the individual?
