Don't lean back, or slingshot, off of starts. Leaning over the block is more important to getting off the block as quickly as possible. You can get the same distance as a slingshot start as long as you push off with both arms and legs. You just have to make to keep your arms from becoming loose, as you will automatically try to tense up when hearing the beep.

Hi, my coach told me that leaning more forward is better than slingshotting because you are taking too much time on the block if you have to launch yourself instead of being at the ready right when the whistle goes off. Is it true or no?
