My Unconventional Fitness Journey & Search for Happiness // From Overweight to Personal Trainer

Movement changed my life, it helped me find happiness and appreciate just how incredible the human body is. After initially losing 30kg hoping a side effect would be happiness I realised the lifestyle I had created didn't solve my problems but instead increased them. Changing my outlook of movement and exercise helped me hugely to come the closest to happiness and more importantly a fulfilling and exciting lifestyle! I have a somewhat different approach to a lot of the fitness industry and hope that in some way my experience can show you that you don't have to follow a strict routine or overthink exercise if you don't want to. after all life is too short!

I just want to let you know that you've inspired me so much.
I lost 16 kg last year after gaining all that weight due to hypothyroiditis and starting to work full-time plus relying on the wrong ideas of health and fitness which made and hate it so much and avoid moving and goinh into an endless cycle of undereating and binge-eating every day. Before that I was somewhat fit and never struggled with weight too much so it felt like an impossible challenge to lose so much weight/fat.
Last year I started yoga and enjoy moving and while I definitely challenged myself too much and causing 2 injuries, I found out that the most importing thing was to enjoy moving my body and eating healthy in a way that's not restrictive.
I definitely agree with everything you say. The biggest learning for me this year has been to play around after my yoga session to have fun with it and to realize through the introception yoga brings that it's not about achievements or numbers but about appreciating yourself and your abilities and try out new things but keep that foundation of the lifestyle and basic movements.
You definitely made me realize that losing weight doesn't have to be that rigid discipline of torture and punishment and that the most important thing is to make adjustments in a way that you enjoy the process.

Lucy. In June I stumbled over one of your videos, and it changed my Life. First I just did your workouts every evening, but then in one video you mentioned that you went out for a run and wanted to see how it went, and that you ran 5k (just like you said in this video today) and back then I felt kind of fit, and I thought: well, lets find out how far I can run. I could only run about 300 meters before feeling like my lungs exploded, but you know what? I stuck with it. Since then, I lost about 22kg, eat healthier, do body weight training regulary (not on your level, but I am sticking with it, practicing handstands and I am currently training for a marathon! My life is so similar to yours, overweight all the way back in school, afraid of PE, exactly the same story. And here I am, inspired by you back in June, following my own fittness dreams. And you know what the big gamechanger was back then for me? I didnt even want to lose weight, I just wanted to get fitter, like you were. The weightloss happened all on its own.
I am writing here to say: Thank you. Thank you for your honest and open videos, for sharing your story in such a relatable way, and for inspiring so many of us to start finding our own happiness, and starting to love using our bodies.

Nice advice. I'm one of those people who gets bored really quickly with structured training programmes, which has led me to just give up on going to the gym. But I'm back at it soon, I've lost 14lb thru just changing my eating and now I've got that fairly solid, it's time to switch it up and get back to the gym. So I'm going to try various classes, avoiding those I known I'll hate, and try some stuff to see what might light me up. Going to try spinning for the first time at the weekend. I've always thought I'd hate it, but to be fair, I've never done it, so how could I know? So thanks for the little bit of permission to just do what I like - I have always loved lifting weights, but that tends to still be those body builder types who monopolise it. I'd really like a lifting partner, who, like me, just wants to lift for the fun of it without disappearing up our own arses about it! so perhaps that's something else to explore.

You're so right, it's crucial to find something you really enjoy. I used to pretend to enjoy yoga, but as often as not it just made me feel crap about the tricks I couldn't do (I know this was completely the wrong attitude -but still) and how unlike a lovely yoga bunny I was! There's something about strength training that I really like, maybe partly because I don't have to worry about being elegant! - Love your skates, wishing you much happiness with those and look forward to you maybe sharing some skating videos one day!

You're such a breath of fresh air. I wish I had someone like you to look up to and follow when I started my journey. Can't wait to start following your beginner bodyweight programme! I do lift weights, but my weaknesses has always been bw exercises (and I've always neglected them, because I wasn't good at them. So working on them and learning new things will be soooo good for me mentally and physically. Thank you!

Many years ago I injuried my back too and it took me 3 years! for me to dress up in normal time and not like 45 minutes fighting to put my socks and shoes and since then I never give for granted health, I enjoy everytime and do crazy adventures, bedause life is too short and you never know if you will be able to do much in the future. Thanks for another great video. Kudos from Switzerland

You caught it so well! I enjoyed moving my body a lot until I moved back im with my parents and movement became about -How far? - -How long? - -How fast? -
The homeworkout videos where all about -Do this 3 things exactly that way 25 times in a row - so easy - (boring and frustrating. nothing that enriched my life)
Thank you for reminding us that there is more!

Lucy: You don't have to follow program.
Me who find enjoyment in following a specific programs and have specific goals. -
But in general i agree its easier and better when you like working out that you do. If you dont like it, just try something different, who knows. - Anyways always like your content Lucy and possitivity you bring with it.

So many of my mates tease me and say that I only workout to look good but it's actually because of how good it makes me feel. I love compound movements with heavy weights, I love long runs in the sun, I love -trying- to do handstands. I wish exercise wasn't viewed as vain when it has so many benefits past looking a certain way

Love hearing your story. I'm 20kg heavier than I'm used to after a year on a life-saving medication. I'm fit-ish though -- can run and plank and do loads of squats. It's left me quite frustrated and lost. I'm trying to just appreciate my body as it is right now while still hoping to lose weight.
