Overall, I think this is a very good park. But can it stand comparison to the other Disney parks in the world? Well in my opinion, absolutely not. From what I can see, this feels like an enormous public park filled with gardens and flowerbeds. .And some theming here and there. The castle sure does look impressive, but I'd rather compare it to a realistic royal mansion than a fairy-tale castle like it's supposed to be. None of the themed areas feels immersive here, in part due to the small shrubbery that still needs to grow, but mostly because of those insanely wide paths. Wide paths won't let any kind of landscape feel realistic to walk in, as they keep reminding you you're actually walking in this huge, marvelous, Disneyfied version of Central Park and not themed lands you can explore and unveil (except for the Roaring Rapids waterfall segment, I really enjoyed that part. But the thing that annoys me the most is how blatantly they insist on using this ocher yellow and bright red colors literally EVERYWHERE. Was it necessary to cozy up to Chinese people this much? After all they should come to Disney to experience Disney itself, and not a carbon copy of their everyday culture. So basically buildings, paths and some rockworks are yellow and red no matter where you turn. From the entrance to the very bottom of the park, yellow and red is almost all you see. Where are the beautiful Victorian white and pink colors of Main Street USA? Where are the many shades of brown of Frontierland? .In a sense I appreciated they tried to go for something new, but Chinese culture is too much in the way of Disney's vision of things (including the language, that makes it quite a challenge for foreign tourists to find their way or even enjoy any simple show or ride which isn't provided with an English version, ergo, all of them, and like some of you said, wide walkways and bare landscapes won't fit and just take away all the huggy feeling that made Magic Kingdom parks famous all over the world. At least the music and some of the (few) rides in here are absolutely great.

This park was bizarre and beautiful at the same time. Huge open walkways, lots of stairs, water and gardens everywhere. Not very crowded. Hard to tell what some of the rides were. Not jam-packed with rides. Gorgeous buildings. To me it seemed they wasted a lot of space. LOTS of places to sit (benches) which is something our parks need more of. Are they eventually going to add more rides? The castle is amazing. Our parks have a lot more rides. Glad we don't have all the stairs. Aesthetically beautiful, but like I said earlier, lots of wasted spaces filled with either water or garden type settings. Huge theme park How does it compare in size to Disneyland in Calif. and The Magic Kingdom in Orlando? A lot or most of the rides seemed different than in the states.

This park looks massive and seems to have a lot of open spaces, more so than WDW, but then again it could just be that I'm used to people walking shoulder to shoulder down Main Street USA or running in to you with their strollers or knocking you down trying to get ahead of you in line. Don't get me wrong, I love WDW but you know how the throngs and herds of people get when running toward a ride. You know like at the Haunted Mansion when everyone it herded into the stretching room and the door opens and the herd is rushing forward just to be forced into a single file line. That kind of stuff. Anyway I digress. Open spaces that's where I was. Just seems to be a lot of open spaces.

Well my thoughts are its a beautiful grand park and the castle is pretty spectacular. I know China wanted everything to be grand very large scale to accommodate a lot of people. But they also wanted things that were one of a kind, unique, new ideas, design and design and rides that are not at the other parks. Plus if they have the capital to do it why not? My only un ease of the design is that they put certain rides in areas that dont go with the traditional Funchal of Disney like putting the dumbo ride in front of the castle instead of putting it in fantasy land where its suppose to be. Disneyland Shanghai might have the largest castle but Disneyland Paris has the prettiest Castle of all

Hi I need your help with obtaining a China tourist Visa in the USA. I don't have a Chinese Consulate in my state. Is there an online visa service? You may entrust someone else to drop off your application at the consular office of the Embassy is NOT an option for me and I know Mailed applications are not acceptable. Which agent did you use, if any? I want to go to Shanghai Disneyland for two weeks and no other stops on this vacation. I'm writing you because you visited Shanghai Disneyland and hopefully can recommend a good agency or online visa service. Thank you so much in advance for your assistance: -)

This was great to get a great view of the park, which I've never seen. This Disneyland in Shanghai looks so much more wider and spacious than the Anaheim one, which is a big plus. But the Anaheim one seems to feel and look more magical. This one seems kind of corporate and boxy for some reason. Some are saying this park doesn't seem to have many attractions, but it is pretty new. The park opened in 2016. When Disneyland opened it didn't have that many attractions and many of them broke down on opening day. It was a nightmare.

Its a beautiful park, with beautiful theming. Some areas are impressive, like Tomorrowland which is much better than the lame version at Disneyland. The castle is not as elegant as the Magic Kingdom or Disneyland Paris, its a little grotesque but its still more impressive and detailed than the one at Disneyland. The Main Street lacks the charm of Disneyland thoughTreasure Cove is such an amazing and unique land, and the maze behind the castle looks great too. Overall the park is impressive and has great theming

Park looks great, yes there's a lot of 'dead' spots. but The parks only a year old. and looking like THIS on opening week is an amazing achievement - The park just needs to mature and grow into itself which I'm sure It will To all those saying its strange and not-classical disney. I think the park was intended to not compete too much with Hong Kong Disney which is modelled on the traditional disney parks. I think the two parks COMPLEMENT each other rather well by the looks of things

They should have let Disney take the wheel for the construction because they really know how to do it. It feels like Shanghai bought the rights to build a Disney theme park and they didn't even try to make it Disney themed. Its not really a Disney theme park really when you think about it, there is only a few rides that are based around Disney classic movies, its like they built there own version and slapped a few Disney rides in and a gigantic castle.
