The reason for the closure is because Volcano Bay Water Park is scheduled to open in June 2017 right across from Wet n Wild at Universal Orlando.

I heard that Disco H20 is one of the few rides that will be brought over to Volcano Bay along with Brainwash and couple others which is great. These are the kind of rides that should last a long, long time.
