Go to a world with an over abundance of water and retrofit a star destroyer or other massive ship to suction off large amounts of water, and then enter as low an orbit as possible, or even atmospheric entry if able, and then drop a hose and unload the purified water. That would cut down on the need for moisture farms and free up vast tracks of land for agriculture and/or growth of cities and towns on the planet. Though this could throw off the worth of the moisture farms if too much water is brought in, or dispersed poorly

I had been my experience that 3 plans will always be presented, and no matter how good or popular any one is, the cheapest one will be adopted. It will always fail to live up to expectations, no one will really like it, and a few years later the problems it aimed to solve will reemerge. Not every city plan goes this way, but it seems far to many do.

Though not a Star Wars wonk, this is a great way to present the process of urban planning in an engaging context for those of us interested but lacking the academic research. I do want to push here, however, as TheLonestar072 stated, how does gentrification affect the planning process for integral human development?

Fictional cities, especially in the sci-fi/fantasy genre, really are the ultimate planned communities. Terry Pratchett once said he started laying out Ankh-Morpork by thinking of how the water gets in and the sewage gets out, but even that is frequently considered optional.

I'm african, yoruba specifically which is an ethnic group based in the southwest of Nigeria, benin republic and togo. I love your videos because I have dreams to plan and construct great cities for my people one day

One thing I forgot to mention: the primary critique of the Rational Comprehensive method is the lack of opportunities for the public to weigh in. This is the primary change planners make when using the model.

i think sand raiders would end up attacking more then suing and would probably lead to a war between the raiders and tatooine or theyd go to a farther area away from mos eisley.
reply

Tatooine is controlled by the Hut. So Jabba must ultimately approve of any plan which usually involves taking kickbacks and concessions like some upgrades to his palace.
reply

The best thing to come out of that plan, if successful, would be Tosche Station opening up a new Mos Eisley location. After all, everyone needs power converters.

yeah, water shortage is such a big issue in north china that water is transported from south china because of too much water usage and population in north china
