Banff National Park // Mt Temple Scramble - Mountain trips

I've been wanting to go to Banff National Park for years. I've wanted to climb Mt Temple because it's one of the first trails in Banff I ever heard of. It took a couple of years and a few false starts but eventually I made it to Canada's endless mountain splendor in Banff. Unfortunately, I couldn't get anyone else to go. But at the 11th hour I threw out a hail mary to wildlife artist Nick Coleman. Not only did he agree to get tested for Covid and go, he even agreed to drive. This trail starts at Lake Moraine and goes straight up 5, 000ft in 5 miles. The Mt Temple trail slowly reveals a glacier spotted landscape with blue alpine lakes and rugged mountains in every direction. It's awesome

Long time Mediocre Amateur fan here. One thing I don't understand is what they do for ankle protection, especially on scrambly climbs like this one. How does Danny avoid a serious rolled ankle or strain/sprain wearing just trail shoes? I know they're experienced hikers/climbers but personally I would be pretty concerned about an incapacitating ankle injury miles from the trailhead (and with little gear to overnight if needed, by the look of it. What am I missing? Is it as simple as they're comfortable trading the increased risk for less weight and more speed?

This is something I really want to do. Never done something like this, what are the chances? Also, I would have no one to go with, love bears, want to see them but don't want to encounter them lol Your vdo always makes me want to work out more. Been to Moraine lake in 2018, love it there and the view up there in your vdo is just amazing!

Yah, we're a bit more rugged up here in Canada eh. Try coming a bit further west, to BC (British Columbia. There's Glacier NP (the Canadian version, Yoho NP, Kootenay NP, Mt Assiniboine NP. you get the idea. Then there's the provincial parks. but bring the bear spray fer shure. Pretty sure we saw Matt in Tofino last year.

Mount Temple, what a nice surprise: ) I adore the scenery and architecture of Canadian Rockies, for me they are up there with the most beautiful mountains in the world. Yeah, there are similarities to the Alps, especially Dolomites, but with their own North American twist

Eons ago, I was skiing Lake Louise in the spring. My hand grazed some snow covered shale. which went right through my glove and hand. I spent 4 hours in the clinic where the doc hosed out tiny pieces of shale. Good system up there though.

Danny youre a machine, and you guys are an inspiration for me to get out and conquer some trails. Im down over 100 lbs doing this stuff, albeit no where near as grueling as this one. Just 3 Colorado 14ers so far!

Just how difficult is it to enter Canada by land these days? I'm vaccinated, planning to travel to Banff with dog to hike in June next year, will probably enter through Portal, ND into North Portal, SK.

Do you have a newer camera? Those colors are just incredible. Nice to see that there's at least something of a trail. The other M. Amateurs really missed out. And I'm happy that you're using poles more now.

Beauty. Great way to introduce those Canadian hosers to MA. an unfettered Danny dropping lines like a Mountain Dew soaked meat berry, while crushing the fitness fantasies of every Canuk on the hill! Classic.

My grandmother lived her life in Georgia and Florida always said Banff was her favorite place on earth. Such amazing footage. This must go to the top of my bucket list. Which I will have to create now.

Bro, I was smiling like a kid the whole time I watched this video, sitting in my New York apartment. Those views were absolutely majestic, and I have a new national park on my bucket list. Great stuff

Danny and his dedication to filming these videos has been a big inspiration to me trail running and sharing some of the best hikes in California through my own videos. Thanks for the awesome videos!

Ok, now my favorite video of yours. Mainly because you completed mount temple, second because you called us canadians a different breed. Partly wishing I could have joined you!

mediocreamatuer if you guys are looking to research scrambles in the alberta/ east b. c. area i highly recommend Scrambles in the canadian rockies by Alan Kane. Hes a legend around Banff.

Im so curious, does Danny place the camera infront of him, walk back down a bit, and then re-walk past it to get a majority of the uphill shots? That must be a chore in and of itself!

A hiker recently slipped and fell to his death on Mt Temple. Honestly, even if there was no snow I don't think I could bring myself to climb somthing like this. One slip and bye bye

I didnt know the view from the top was that good, I only made it to the pass because that was my original plan, I guess Ill have to go back! And yes, I saw like five bears that day.

You know when the arm sleeves go on, sh! t's about to get REAL. Love your humor, love your adventures, and I'm pretty sure you and the cast are made out of forged unobtainium.

Typical Danny humor, while he makes a difficult scramble look like a walk in the park. Sound familiar Forest? You guys inspire us, we love the content. Thank you

That was some unbelievable scenery! Thanks for sharing. Great stuff Danny.
Bring back Blake. He could probably inhale some bugs or something.
