Capitol Reef National Park is one of Utah's Mighty Five National Parks. The park is the least visited of the five but it is well worth taking the time to explore. The park has many stunning natural features, like rock arches and multiple canyons. Plus, the park is full of history with the Fruita Historic District and the famous pies they sell at Gifford House. My dad and I spent one day in the park and loved getting to know a new part of Utah

Thanks for doing this video, I really want to do Cassidy Arch when I visit this April. Unfortunately, since I will be driving a rental car, I will be forced to begin from the northeast, paved entrance to the Grand Wash, where you were picked up by your father I believe. I was checking AllTrails to get a preview of the length and elevation gain. While the length was pretty similar at around 8 miles round trip, the elevation gain from various gps tracks submitted by other hikers were all over the place. Ranging from around 1200 ft, to 1500ft, to above 2000+ft! I have to imagine it was the canyon walls messing with the gps readings. Could I get your opinion on how flat the grand wash portions were and how much elevation gain you probably went through this entire hike? Thanks so much!

Great video! Next time you're in capitol reef I'd highly recommend sulphercreek pleasent creek and if you're really adventurous oak creek it's really hard to access though but the real beauty of capitol reef in my opinion is found in the surrounding area there's really no where else like it the eastern desert in the cainville area you'll find petrified forest and crazy rock formations that look out of this world and head west and you've got boulder mountain and fish lake national forest nestled right next to the park it's actually amazing how quick the environment goes from desert to forest it's my favorite part of Utah also the burr trail is a must do for the south end of the Park

You always bring back great memories of my trips in the US.
This area specifically is amazing.
I encourage everyone to travel, no matter how difficult it might seem.
I'm heavily disabled, but yet, with the help of my friend who clicked on the purchase ticket button while I was in the bathroom (yes the idea of going to the US alone scared me and I didn't have the courage to click that button) I managed to travel solo from Italy and enjoy driving through the beautiful south west scenery.
There are pieces of my heart left between the Eastern Sierras and the White Sands National Park!

I know it's all business (for the most part) for your videos, but maybe add some more pops commentary as well, so as to get both takes and get more interactions between you two. More insight into your relationship/dynamic with each other would up the anty of intruigue and add a slight bit more comedic relief, since I can tell you both have interesting personalities/backgrounds (unlike many travel videographers. Overall, FANTASTIC videos my friend, as you're doing the Lord's work for us aspiring travelers!

I can't wait to watch this. As you know, I'm a Utahn and the mighty five is epic. This park is my second favorite in Utah. I call it, The Poor Man Zion because it has similar trails and views. If you come back, you should do the Sulphur Creek Trail. Epic 5 mile point to point that takes you past 3 waterfalls I think. Def wanna watch out for flash flooding. This park I swear gets crazy intense with that in the summer monsoon season. All the best!

We are from the Netherlands and visited Capitol Reef in the beginning of March this year and missed Pie by a week, bummer!
We did hike the Overlook trail and looked down from the trail at Hickman Bridge, but the views at the top are amazing, you should definitely do that one in the future.
We always love your videos, keep them coming (and we will too be coming back to the USA)

Visited there a few years ago. When hiking i missed a warning sign about killer bees. They were right under the Hickman bridge, so i never got a good look at it as i had to run like crazy.
Did get a pie to make up for it though, so that's still a win. The area is beautiful in summer when it's all green.

Thanks! This was one of our favorite parks by far. Such a cool, underrated park! The hour-long ranger led geology hike was awesome! And the peach pie was great! We drove in from Escalante, where we took in Grand Staircase, Bryce and Zion as well for 10 days. Such a treasure!

Had the apple pie and it was one of the best I ever had. Got it Ala mode which made it even better. Awesome park that I need to get back to. You did some trails I didn't have time to do. Also recommend the Calf Creek Falls trail in Escalante NM if you get back that way.

Could you suggest a few national parks that would be great just for driving. My husband and I can walk some but definitely not a hike. We loved Yellowstone and grand tetons because we could drive for hours and see so much. With a few viewpoints here and there.

It's not going to be one of the lesser known now everybody in their damn mother is going to go there because of the dinosaur tracks and it's going to be messed up just like the waves and the petrified Forest in Arizona 100% within the next year sad very sad

Nice video guys, as always. I was just there the first time in April, pue house was closed that day too? On your first hike to the arch, the trail splits to Navajo Nubbs, an excellent view point, highest is the park. Its an amazing park.

I caught Kaibab LZimestone out the corner of my eye and went to research it cuz I was thinking. and after my research I come back to your video and right there See, here it is on Grand Canyon. Props to the sign makers.

Awesome video as always! Every one of utahs national parks is a gem! If you dont mind me asking, what microphone do you use to record the background audio for your videos? It just sounds so crisp and clear!

Love this parkwas a big relief after contending with the crowds at Arches. I was there early June of last year and unfortunately was too late for piesold out. Great video - always enjoy the adventures with your dad.

I love getting their Pies, but last trip in March I came too late and they were sold out. Thanks for these videos. I've been here 3 times before, but you cover so much info, so Im always learning more things.

I grew up in one of the nearby towns in Wayne County where Capitol Reef is located. I promise you, Capitol Reef is the best of the national parks, and I promise I have absolutely no bias whatsoever; )
reply

Our family visited Capitol Reefs NP two years ago. As other people have commented, the park is under-rated so there is always lots of space to get away from crowds.

Awesome! I really have wanted to explore this area of Utah. You e given me som3 ideas of things to do and see. The scenic drive is amazing. Totally want to go now

Very well done video. This is a vacation that I have been dreaming about for a long time. The information is priceless and again I thank you for an excellent video

I heard of the old school site a while ago. I wonder if they had a better life with so little resources and people compared to the bustling of the modern times.
reply

Oh my goodness. I would never be able to do that trail to the arch. Thank you for filming it so well, because it is the only way I would ever see it!
reply

Simply amazing. Never knew the Capitol Reef National Park even existed. I have to go visit now. And, the Trout and eggs breakfast looks delicious, too.
reply

Call me crazy but I enjoyed this park more than Zion. And yes, I hiked to the top of Angels Landing and walked through The Narrows.
reply

Great video! This is probably my favorite National Park, and definitely one of the more overlooked ones. The views are breathtaking.
reply

Great video Josh. I hope to get to that area some day. So what month did you go? Doesn't look very crowded. Thanks for the tour
