New England is one of the best places in the United State, if not the whole world, to see fall colors. A New England fall colors road trip is an easy bucket list item for many people, including my dad and I, so we decided to spend some time exploring the area in 2022. It was an amazing experience and some of the most beautiful views I have ever seen. Here is how we spent 3 days in Massachusetts, Connecticut, Vermont and New Hampshire

I did the trip in October 2021. My trip was more about the driving experience, but I started in Portland, ME and had a quick walk of the downtown area, then the lighthouse before driving to Boston. In Boston I walked the downtown area with the goal to take pics of Beacon Hill, then drive to Bunker Hill, before heading to Manchester, NH to my hotel for the night. The second day I drove to Concord to see the capitol then through the lake towns all the way Conway, before turning into the Kancamagus Hwy. I did it pretty quickly taking in the sights, and after passing Lincoln, I stayed on 112 to 302 until Montpelier where I got to my hotel. Then I drove down to Woodstock, visited Sleepy Hollow Farm and Jena farm in the area, before heading back up to Montpelier. The next morning I headed to NYC via US4 and US7 to Bennington which is very nice, then to Albany and finally NYC.

Great video! I agree that staying in Lincoln is a great option, but I would also recommend considering the Mount Washington Valley, which includes the towns of Conway, Bartlett, and Jackson, New Hampshire. From there, you can easily access the Kancamagus Highway (Kanc) via Bear Notch Road in Bartlett, as well as Crawford Notch, which is near the Cog Railway. Pinkham Notch is also a short drive away and offers spectacular views and access to Mount Washington trailheads and the auto road for those who want to drive up to the summit. Additionally, there are many more lodging and dining options in the Valley, which can make it feel less crowded during busy seasons and won't need to eat Macdonald's twice in one day!

Because you took the last trip of the day on the Cog Railway you missed most of the snow. In the morning the whole top of the mountain was covered. I got some gorgeous pics of it. Most of it had melted by 12: 30 pm except the very top. If you thought it was cold in the afternoon it would have been even colder at the top in the morning. Peak was the previous weekend Sat, Sun. and Mon. (the holiday and the reason for the larger crowds) and it passed really quickly after that. Because you were heading to Maine and Acadia you got a second chance to see peak because Acadia's peak is the following week due to being warmer and on the coast.

I often forget how beautiful New England is because I've lived in New Hampshire my whole life. But you really should have rented an RV instead of staying in hotels. Thanks for coming! If you think sabbaday Falls was beautiful you are to try Lost River. Next time check out the old man in the mountain and Lake Winnipesaukee. this pass cold spell Mount Washington just hit a record low of 109 degrees below zero wind chill. Lol

Great video. Thanks for sharing. I see you did few drone shots in few areas, can you please let me know if you used any app to check which area you can fly drone? I am sure all places are photo worthy however drone might not be allowed everywhere, so want to make sure what app or source you used to determine where to fly. Thanks in advance.

Had I known you were coming to my New England lol, I couldve given you some great roads & towns in VT to go to. But if youre ever back in VT, head up route 91 N to exit 19 & take a left off the exit. Head straight for about a 1/2 mile and youll see the P & H Truck Stop. They sell loaves of homemade breads, just fabulous!

I'm sure someone has already mentioned it, but when I visited in Mid-October 2018, Hwy 113 had the best fall colors for me as the 2 lane road had trees where the limbs extended over the road from both sides, enclosing you in extremely bright reds, oranges, and yellows.

I grew up in Rhode Island and I live in Texas now. I really miss the fall colors. We had a beautiful maple tree, in front of our property, and it was beautiful. We do get a little fall colors, here, but nothing spectacular as what we have in New England.

We drove the Mt. Washington road last summer. Hands down the most terrifying drive of my life. It was extremely foggy, maybe 50 ft of visibility most of the way up after 3, 500 ft. We were scared, but what an experience.

Haven't watched the video yet but I was camping in NH the first two weeks of Oct. 2022. This was one of the best years that we've had for foliage. Plus it snowed so that added the white capped peaks to the scene.

you should have come to the Catskills. come visit me with your father.

We lived in the berkshires in Massachusetts for a few months this past fall. So funny to see you film at Taft farms, we would go there at least once a week for produce and their baked goods!

Josh, your Daddy is just the nicest man! I hate to say it, but he needs to be in every video you make. You guys are such a good team! That is so rare and natural! Its real and it shines through

The Blue Ridge /Skyline drive for ME, are both nicer. I live in the area and drive this 2-5 times a year and still like the other 2 better. By the way, outstanding video's.

I love traveling with you and your Dad! Thanks! I agree with you about Sabaday Falls. I was there in 2015, and seeing your footage brought back great memories!

I'm watching this video, and it's one of the best Fall foliage videos I've watched. It's too late now to plan a trip, I'm certainly going to plan for 2024!
