Only the brave would even attempt this hike. Mount Huashan, the steep five-peaked mountain in China, is said to kill 100 hikers a year. What deathtraps would await you on this mountain And what's the safest way to make it to the summit on this hike Safety harnesses are provided. Nobody has been killed. Such adventurous trails were developed only about 2 decades ago or less. There are plenty of safe trails. Teams of staff maintain ALL trails in good condition and an entrance fee is charged, Mount Huashan is closed during winter and has been a popular tourist nature destination for centuries.

I must say this, they are called Caucasians and make up the smallest race group in the world. They gave us everything we have today, including the cellphone. So go figure. I personally witnessed something. A car went over a bridge and started sinking. I was there and many black people. We just stood there gaping. A lone Caucasian pulled aside the road and wanted to know what was going on. The next thing he undressed right to underwear and dived into the river from the bridge. He took out four survivers and the dead driver.

Where I live you learn some respect for the mountains from youngest age, which means to bring at least fitting alpine clothing, some physical stamina and last but not least mountain boots for anything more than a short and easy hike. For exposed areas/routes you really should have a bit of experience and a head for heights. When I see how many people with jeans, sneakers and city backbags arrive there. you know what I mean.

I want a knowledgeable rock climber to analyze the gear because a LOT of it looks sketchy AF to me, especially the harnesses that look like you'll just slip right out of them. Some guy's webbing edges were all frayed and the chains look rusty and there's no way I would do this without at least having my own harness.

If 100 people per year died on a trail is the USA they’d shut down because, you know, our safety. So many rules and laws they wanna bubble wrap every single person. Except when they wanna poison you with an experimental vaccine with zero proven data.

Mount Huashan is wrong. It should be Mount Hua, as Shan means mountain in Chinese.
In yesteryears Tao monks used to walk on the plank path without holding onto the support chains or ropes. That's walking kong fu.

Makes me think of the Hallelujah Mountains in Avatar. Vertigo and Lions are my stuff of nightmares. Phew! These people a nuts or brave. I'll stay my South African butt right here and live vicariously through you guys.

I would rather fly a helicopter up these mountains to get up. I wonder how these guys built these and how long ago was it when these were built. I cant imagine myself ever being the guy called to fix and do maintenance.

I do hiking in normal parks and forests, with normal risk and guids. But it is strange when people like in this video risk their life to do an adventure. what if you Don't go back alive to your family, will ot be worthy

Looks nice, but way too crowded. I seriously doubt this trail claims 100 climbers per year. although people do go up there in flimsy looking sneakers that would not offer proper grip on any surface.

For those who think this is not the deadliest, let me remind you that the ropes were only added 20 years ago. For hundreds of years hikers were using their bare hands on the chains, without any rope.

No, I'm happy lying on my bed, This is insane! Salute to the workers who made this structure. - Sounds like my kind of hike: a virtual one from the safety of my bed!
reply

Sorry but it’s just simply not dangerous if you are strapped into a harness. Do it without if you really want danger otherwise it’s just silly or for the views.
reply

When I climb, I use my own gear. I take care of my gear, I know my gear, I trust my gear. This is nuts! You have no idea if it's trustworthy.
reply

No respect for anyone who dies that way. Correction. I might respect the individuals, but can’t ever have pity for them if they die that way.
reply

This would be insane to do alone but there are SO MANY PEOPLE! That actually scares me more bc one person's mess up could kill you.
reply

Props to the people who somehow built the steps, and built it well qnd definitely needs to be checked when wood rota eventually
reply

That plank trail constructed years ago looks so safe. I just don't understand the mind of a person who goes to such places.
reply

Modern day planks and buildings have withered in the wind but the hundred yr old one in that Mt still stands the test of time.
reply

I'm more fearful of the ppl on those planks. One or more of them might just grab onto any part of you when they get scared.
