Weel. it's like this, For the States, New England has alwas been my favourite part of the country. I suppose I had been put of bt that 'shield' But the region is fantastic! I LOVE the rain, the seasons, the colour of the foilage during auaumn, and the SNOW! YES as indeed I don't want to get stuck out in it especially during a blizzard, I LOVE SNOW! I miss the winters as they do resemble my neck of the woods, Switzerland.
The only other think that I may face as a challenge is that until I can get my international education and promotional organisation going to promote all forms of human transport electrification and weening the world away from fossil fuel, I am low income, I am afraid I shan't be able to afford to live at a nice clean safe and quiet dwelling especially in the counrty in a small township that I can closly walk to (as I don't and can't afford an electric car just yet to live in a clean countrylike quiet and safe setting. All that might be just to expensive for me. I don't want to live in a rat hole in Boston! It is my second favourite city in American after NYC, but both are unfortunately very expensive for my budget.
I don't want to get polititcal, but I must say that Amerika has very little regard for low income people and in Capitalism especially the American Classical version, they seek to penalise those who are not at least upper middle class. That is SHAMEFUL and hypocritical to the basic ideals of Amerika (ironically enshrined in the Greater New England area!

The biggest problem with my home region of New England is all the non new Englanders forgetting that we are 6 distinct states. Each one has pros and cons that differ from its cousins. New Hampshire and Vermont are very similar but Maine and Rhode Island are berry different culturally. The broadest you could really catigorize with somewhat like cultures is northern New England (being Vermont, New Hampshire, and Maine) and southern New England (being Massachusetts, Connecticut and Rhode Island. A very large portion of the vastly different experiences and understandings of New England are from people who only know what Boston or Newport or Bar Harbor are like and then assuming the rest of New England is like that. Itd be like going to Chicago and thinking this represents the mid west.

it's more like kong curd said fast, or conquered
second of all, the summers here, are HOT In MA, we got multiple towns over the 100-degree mark, including mine.
The snow is indeed terrible though, and because I live in Lexington, MA, where the shot heard around the world was shot, the history is rich.

Living in Northern Maine my whole life had spoiled me. Your neighbors always made sure you were okay, snow blower broken? Call your neighbor and they'll be over soon. Moving away has been tough and made me miss the community feeling of Maine. Yes there is a can do attitude of pulling yourself up in Maine but if you are in need someone will be right there.

Dont forget about the pizza in Connecticut. New Haven style is the best pizza you can find anywhere IMO. Gotta hit all the classic spots and see for yourself which is best (Frank Pepes, Sallys, Bar, Modern, nearby Colony, and so on and so on)
PS. in New Haven its Apizza, not pizza. (pronounced ah-peatz)

If you talk to me then I will chat with you, it's more we, similarly to New yorkers, act with purpose. If I feel that I'm just talking with a stranger for the sake of talking with a stranger I normally try to cut the conversation (unless I'm just chilling! then we can talk about how great it is here in Maine)

An hour north of Boston on the N. H. coast is the small city of Portsmouth. A great walking town with that almost European old school feel. And between Portsmouth and Kittery Maine which is just across the River, you have world class dining. The same can be said for for the micro brews.

There are many many seafood places in Maine. Some of them are very good but be forewarned some are very, very bad. I have been to many of the good and bad. If you're looking for lobster rolls the best I have come across by far are at the Lobster Shack in Perkins Cove, Ogunquit.

This video made me so homesick. The fried clams, clam chowder, creme soda, maple walnut ice cream, maple sugar candy, the fall foliage etc. thanks for the look back. I have lived in Italy for 28 years now but still miss my hometown of Boston. Proud member of Red Sox Nation!

As far as the seasonality, yes we have very distinct seasons. From May through the end of October New England is one of the best places in the world to be. From November through mid April it's a frozen gray wasteland and you wish you were either hibernating or dead.
