I'm among the ones that have been fined for trespassing! 500$ each, 3 or 4 hours stucked in the desert at gunpoint (by unmarked security guards) waiting for the Sheriff ti pick us up.
My fault. It wasn't the first time for me to get there. first one was in 2002 and I was driving a sedan. I wasn't driving fast on a dirt road with that car, we were in late to get to the Grand Canyon so we got back before reaching the warning sign. At that time there were many tourists on that dirt road and they were smiling and weaving at us. Second time, 2012, I rented a Tahoe so I was able to speed up a little bit. we reached the sign and we saw I white pick up (a Ford Raptor) up a hill AFTER the sign. I told my friends: that's it guys, we can't go any further, let's go up there where to those tourists and then we head back. As you have already guessed, it turned out they were not tourists! They launched the truck downhill in a dusty cloud and you already know the rest. This is the most expensive story I have to tell friends at a bar
You've got think at a foreign tourist (Italian) grown up watching American TV shows and movies that loves everything from US. cars ( I own a 1982 Trans Am bought in Vegas), clothes, food, etc. when the Sheriff red our rights it was both a scary and exciting moment.

Nevada is such an underrated state in terms of beautiful scenery, especially in winter, Nevada is Spanish for snow-capped and if you ever drive through rural Nevada outside of Las Vegas/Clark County you can really see how the state got its name. Northern Nevada especially north of US-50 is like a dreamscape in the winter time. US-50/I-80 through Nevada in the winter is truly one of the most underrated drives in the US. The views of the snow-capped mountains are just breathtaking. Thanks for sharing this. The small town of Rachel is awesome, the Little A'Le'Inn is definitely worth a stop on the highway! Thanks for everything you do Josh and Pops!

Thanks for the memories my husband and I took that trip in 2006 we were told you can rent a trailer at Rachael for a night or? If you go on a full moon night you can actually read the newspaper sitting out by the firePit because of the moon and all the stars you will see. We always wanted to do that unfortunately my husband got sick in 2008 passed from that illness in 2014 and we never made it. But your trip really brought me so much joy remembering when we were there. Really I love all your road trips thank you so much for all the happy times

Sorry that alien stole your Pops, Josh. Must have been WICKED BIG! Since Pops is 6 ft 7 inches. put the alien at maybe 12 ft tall? Wonder how he fit in that little space ship?

Thats not the proper border of the base. I reckon theyve put that up to stop the influx of people going to the border.
I went down there in the mid 90s to the border and when the black mailbox was white and it was a proper mailbox. Was considering going again from the uk but it wouldnt be the same now.
When I went it was quite scary and foreboding. The net had only just come out and it was hard to get info about the place.

We did this last Sept. It's a really fun excursion, the roads have many forks so it's hard to get to the right spot, we finally made it to the front gate but it took some driving to find it. We did see the white pick-up gaurding the gate on top of a bluff. that's great advice to fill up before you head there, we almost were running out of gas and i was nervous about getting back to a gas station. Loved the vid!

We really enjoyed the video! Poor Pops got abducted by the aliens! We visited Pascagoula Mississippi where there is a documented abduction by aliens. The police department believed the 2 men when they told them they had been abducted. They have a marker talking about the abduction and a small park. It was pretty interesting! We made a video and posted it on You Tube.

Great video! Just a heads up, the Area 51 sign you saw is just preparing you to not cross the actual boundary. I can speak from experience. We stopped at that sign for a few minutes and then my wife freaked out when I took off and drove past it. You can drive right up to the gate while the Camo Dudes watch you from the hill tops.

So I have a piece of area 51 (barely) a friend went on the Area 51 tour on a visit to Vegas, and when they got to the famous sign/border he reached his foot past the sign and scraped a couple of stones from inside the base. It's just a little stone essentially but it's a cool memento

Saw a video from a few months ago. the mailbox has been cleaned up from outside sticker nonsense. The beer' gone, along with that dumb note 'leave nudes'. Really.
