I have family in Estonia and wish I could visit them. Hindrance is the expensive cost to fly from the USA. Once I get to Frankfurt, the flight to Tallinn is 30uro. And again I have family to stay with once I get there. The $3200 airfare get over there is very expensive. I must admit, I'm envious that you are able to afford to travel there, but I understand everyone's finances are different. Maybe some day I'll get to visit my family in Estonia and see where my dad (who has since passed) was born and spread some of his ashes at the beach where he went as a child. Thank you for sharing your experiences in Tallinn and glad you & your family had a wonderful vacation!

People under 25 are for sure in most cases really fluent in london language, top 1 in PISA test in Europe year or 2 ago and top 3 in world. (non-english speaking countries take it, test is taken in english, it is middle school test, but nowdays people start leorning london language at the age of 7 and probably can speak already a little due to Estonia being a small country and a lot of the games and movies are dubbed and made in english in many cases. older people might not speak any english tho due to USSR occupation and people between might have a strong accent or just not too fluent, but that is always not the case

Is asking an Estonian about language bad? I remember talking to one Estonian on a certain chat platform for strangers. We talked for quite long and he was talking in English. We seemed to get along well. I do not know much about Estonia and when I asked if their language is English (because he is quite good at it, he said no and then disconnected. I was worried that I offended him. Although I do not really know why he was disconnected. Answers are appreciated. It would be great to learn about language and culture.

Another thing is Estonia is NOT CHEAP. I was shocked when I arrived there. Away from the tourist area; food is about the same as US, clothes are much more expensive, hotels and hostels are not cheap, etc. So beware prices have risen sharply over recent years thanks to switching to the Euro. Everyone complains about it.

why not going to iran which is way much better than estonia and you dont have to worry about food price there AT ALL, a complete luxury dinner in best restaurant in tehran wich is more expensive than other cities for 4 person is around 80 dollars which is really perfect wich may explode you because thats ton of food!

I was in Estonia for two months; yes a cool country, but NO: MOST PEOPLE DO NOT SPEAK ENGLISH and nothing is written in English. So this made things very difficult in that I could only associate or communicate with people who spoke or struggled with English.

I would recommend checking out Hiiumaa or Saaremaa. In summer they are great destinations to travel. I like the local nature and culture.

Oooh I love Tallinn! We have been twice this year just because we loved it so much. Estonia is such an Interesting place.
