We have family there and I have been spending much time in the area since 1996. What you say is true, I agree with all. There are two things to add: 1) you must pay for your toilet in some places, keep coins on you just in case (also, not many free public ones in parks and things because there were problems with something or other and they've been closed permanently) 2) never ever swim in La Loire river, even on a hot sunny day, because the currents are dangerous and people drown. (I've stopped by in Tours to wet my feet and there was lots of broken glass from wine bottles there too. And for those of you who wish to say the town correctly, Amboise is pronounced, Am-Bwaaze. It's not Am-Bwah like he says. Bisous!

We were just there in April, looks like we were there about the same time! Loved Chenonceau, Amboise, and Clos de Luce. We also did Chambord and that was fantastic, hope you didn't miss that masterpiece. I would love to go back some day and see the other chateaux. Great video as always!

We just trained to Amboise from Paris last month. The Amboise train station is a bit of a walk from the center of the city, but we were pleasantly surprised to find a small public bus waiting at the station. For. 70 each, we were taken near our hotel in style. Nice touch.

I've been to 5 different places/regions in France, all of them were gorgeous, but my favorite is definitely the Loire Valley! Quintessential France. And don't just go to chateaux, but tour the towns and villages too, they are beautiful!

The Loire valley is one of the premier cycling destinations in the world with excellent and safe infrastructure. Self guided bike touring is really easy with a good bike rental shop several blocks from the Tours train station.

I watch all your videos. I also travel with an 8 year old. Could you include ideas about what to do for the kids? When we were in Rome we did kids gladiator school, it was awesome. Thanks for all you do.

Mark, I know a place where on 102 square kilometres there are 30 castles and palaces - greater density than in the Loire Valley. The valley of palaces and gardens is waiting for entry to the Unesco list.

Great video, as always! I just visited the Loire Valley in August, and Chenonceau was my favorite of the chateaux. Im posting my video from there next week and I hope you and Jocelyn will check it out!

Hi Mark, nothing to do with France. But possibly in the future Driving in America would possibly be a great video for us travellers. Thanks
