This video is GOLD! I am presently shopping for a washer outside the U. S. and the dashboards on these puppies are dizzying! I mean, RPMs? Really? TMI, IMO!
Compounding the confusion is the need to constantly convert kilograms, centimeters, and currency as Im negotiating (yes, the sticker price is but a suggestion) in a language I have yet to master.
I even nicked my finger while clumsily opening the spring-loaded tumbler of a top-loading model (front-loaders being notorious for mold) and the saleswoman stared at me like I was from Mars. Sorry, lady, I have never seen one of these before, now get over it!

For Those Wondering Why We Made a Video About Washing Machines: In the US Washing Machines Tend to be Quite Different Than Those Found Outside the US. The Biggest Difference is that US Washing Machines tend to be significantly larger and in the US many homes have a Laundry Room that is dedicated to holding just the washing machine and dryer. We had received a number or requests asking us to do this video, so we wanted to help our fellow travelers who had asked. I hope that helps!

Yes American washers are very different. It's a washing system that hasn't changed in over 100 years. They still have washers we had in Europe in the 50's, just with an added automatic spin. Very rudimental, ineffective and so damn agressive on clothes. American washers don't wash anything at all, they are just blenders for your laundry. And it's not true we don't have dryers. Here in Slovenia dryers have been a common thing for a long time and still are.

I'm sitting in an apartment in Portugal trying to figure out what the symbols on the washer mean. Unfortunately, it's very different from the washer in this video and very different from the washer I had in Porto. I'm trying to wash my clothes longer than 15 minutes and shorter than an hour. Still don't know how, but thanks for this video!

For everyday clothes use sintetichs 30 is cool 40 is warm 60 is hot and 90 extra hot! For towels cottons bedding use cotton, thats because sintetics is american easy care or ifon so get more water and more gentle tymble and less wrinkles in the clothes, if necessary i allways use extrarinse option! Oh, i forgot sintetics is even shorter than cotton

I am Dutch and used one time an American washing machine on a camping. There wassomething inside that pushes your clothes inside around. It made holes in some clothes and the clothes of our children were still with stains from grass and sand. The cycle took only about 45 minutes. Too short to clean well.

you should take a look at the european topload washer- its like our fronloaders, but not even close to the american toploaders. and honey. NO SPIN is for cashmere and other delicate wool. you have to lay it wet on the racket to not to destroy it. thats why you have the NO SPIN option on the machine

In Europe we dont have unhygienic tiled work surfaces! Most U. K. homes have either a separate dryer or a combined washer / dryer. Most medium to large U. K. homes have utility rooms for washing machines and dryers which are separate to (albeit usually adjacent to) the kitchen.

Hi Jocelyn! I'm watching this video in 2021.
It caught my attention because I lived in Brazil/US/Europe now, and all I can think of is: is it so different than in the US! What?
It is always fun to watch these videos. Thank you for the content: )
